I’ll eat my words and say I should have said “similar actions with similar effects”.
You can go into work tomorrow and show the bosses you defended them. It’s awesome to know Trudy, Wilson, the johnsons have a defender here. Keeps things even. LOL

Activist DA's have been unleashed.
They'll prosecute you for defending yourself as well. This is the culmination of decades of attempting to take over the justice system with activists.

I don't work for them, you tit. I'm a criminal defense attorney. And to further correct your nonsense, Trudy White doesn't have a criminal docket, Wilson Fields doesn't have a criminal docket, and Don Johnson doesn't have a criminal docket. Ron Johnson has a split civil/criminal docket. So out of the four people you listed, you managed half a criminal docket. Congratulations

Same judge:

Investigators say Brian Bullock was free on-bond when they say he murdered his estranged wife and another man who was conducting renovations on her home.
The pair were brutally stabbed to death.
Despite the double capital murder charges, a Harris County judge granted Bullock bond last week and he’s now free.
Mary Nan Huffman notes “Judge Abigail Anastasio of the 184th District Court gave him a bond when we KNOW he does not follow bond conditions. He is eligible for the death penalty-- He has nothing to lose. Does this make any sense? The Harris County criminal justice system is broken.”

Currently. But they have. Im shocked as a defense attorney you are defending judges known being lax on criminals. Carry on.
As a fellow attorney I truly believe in all persons needing to be represented and there being access to justice issues in a lot of ways. Maybe this is the mindset you guys have to have.

Again, I'm not defending anyone. Go back and read my posts. I'm saying that as a matter of objective fact, the type of thing described in the OP not only isn't common in the 19th, but functionally never happens. And while I won't say which of the four it is, the one of the four who presided over a contentious case I cared about, from a legal perspective, shite the bed and fricked over a defendant pretty hard.
I see every bond set in the 19th JDC every day. Bonds are fricking high, as a rule.
ETA: Over 40 people came through callout yesterday. Precisely two were given RoR, both for extremely minor offenses.

I’ll take your word for it and concede I’m not In the trenches.
Maybe they should be higher. The cost of everything else is up.

The issue with the monetary bond system is that people who should get out, can't, if they are poor. And people who shouldn't get out, do, if they are wealthy.
I would much rather mirror the federal system, where you have a hearing in which dangerousness, flight, etc, are taken into account. For the overwhelming majority of cases, if not a danger/flight risk, released without bond. Danger/flight risk? Held without bond.
Or in the alternative, give different bond amounts for different bond types. In Louisiana, commercial sureties can charge 12%. So on a $10,000 bond, it costs you $1,200 to get out. But as you likely already know, here's the catch: even if your case gets dismissed tomorrow, you never get the money back. And if you never show up to court? You're likely not on the hook for the rest of it, either. Bonds through a commercial surety serve zero societal or systemic purpose, other than gatekeeping release. I would much prefer far lower bonds set that are cash only, so even if it's only $500, you can bet your arse momma wants her $500 back, so she's going to make sure you show up to court every time.

This isn't entirely pertinent because he killed his own child, but if some one killed my child, I hope they don't let them out on a bond.
The neanderthal in me would take over and I'd end up sitting in a prison cell because no judge would let me off since I'm a white male with a steady job and no priors.

WTF was the judge thinking? As far as I'm concern, the judge was complicit with this animal's crimes against these children and needs to be dealt with severely.

The article in the OP was from yesterday. I recorded two different station's news broadcasts here in Houston yesterday evening. Not one mention of this tragedy.

Additionally, knowing what's going on, what kind of woman lets this dude around another child?
