The fact that this cop has so many compamints and was still on the street is amazing. There is a reason many here don’t trust 100% trust police and this is a prime example.

So we shouldn’t trust any profession that has bad apples? Do police have significantly more bad apples than other professions?

I mean there are bad doctors out there? Should I just never go to the doctor

Oh look. The bootlicker is still at it. I'm sure everyone is surprised.

Face it, confronting bad guys in a contained environment like their residence is much preferebale to out in public where others are present or the suspect can go mobile.

Apparently the LAPD, FBI, and others are not aware of this. A show about capturing the Golden State Killer is on TV right now, the various law enforcement agencies are going over their plan to capture him. They have decided to follow him to a public place instead of taking him at his house because he will be less likely to have a firearm, or other weapons making it less likely he will engage them in a gun fight, and will eliminate the issue of other people being in the house with him.

Although the complete facts are unclear, it appears the shooting in NO yesterday resulted from the cops trying to arrest an armed robbery suspect either on a bus or at the bus stop.

So...maybe don’t try to arrest him at a bus stop? That’s my point. If you have him tracked, you just wait until he’s isolated. Set up an ambush.

There’s a happy medium between no knock warrants on the wrong house and trying to apprehend a suspect in a crowded public place

Well the are the ones who argued all the way to the supreme court that being too smart was a valid reason for not hiring someone, what do you expect.

But I don't think a lot of people really put a lot of thought into what goes into police operations.

apparently, HPD doesn't either

Even better- that old lady didn't have a gun. After the cops realized they had busted into the wrong house and killed her when she got up unarmed, they planted that gun on her body.

Fr33, I normally back you. But in this case, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Dealing with an armed suspect, whether handgun or long weapon, in an open area among the public is as bad as it gets. The chance of innocent bystanders getting hit versus confronting them in their own residence isn’t worth the risk. What if one of the suspects takes a bystander hostage? The same people here bitching about kicking in doors would criticize the cops for approaching this dangerous individual in the public.

This is exactly right and since everyone in position of making the decision in these circumstances is under direct employ of us the only answer to this problem is to have that team who has been manned up for a Residence breach sit STILL and wait the resident out. There is no reason they can not wait until said person comes out house. They are all on the clock.

UPDATE: FBI getting involved

quote:

During the press conference, Chief Acevedo also said that the FBI will open a formal civil rights investigation into the actions of the officers involved. "I am very pleased that based on our findings that the FBI have opened a formal civil rights investigation into the actions of the officers involved. We welcome that in the spirit of transparency," Acevedo said.

Slimy Mayor Sylvester Turner and crooked Houston Police Department Chief Art Acevedo are certainly saying all the right things ....

quote:

All no-knock warrants must now be approved by Chief Acevedo or his designee.

quote:

The mayor also called on the Civilian Oversight Advisory Board to conduct a review of the incident.

quote:

Other revisions include the use of body cameras for SWAT and warrant executions

It’s really curious that no revolver has been submitted into evidence yet.

Evidence left behind after botched Pecan Park drug raid raises new questions about shootings

quote:

A four-day independent forensics review at 7815 Harding Street found a cache of evidence left behind by the city’s crime scene teams after a botched drug raid at the home left dead a couple suspected of selling drugs. Hired by the relatives of Rhogena Nicholas and Dennis Tuttle, the new forensics team found no signs the pair fired shots at police — and plenty of signs that previous investigators overlooked dozens of pieces of potential evidence in what one expert called a “sloppy” investigation

quote:

“The initial bullet trajectories appear to be somewhat contradictory,” said Louisiana-based attorney Chuck Bourque, who is also representing the Nicholas family. “We see no evidence that anybody inside the house was firing toward the door.” Some of the bullet holes outside the house appeared at least a foot from the door, a fact that Doyle flagged as troubling. “You can’t see into the house from there,” he said, “you’re firing into the house through a wall.”

quote:

Maloney’s team found no indication that any of the guns Tuttle owned were fired toward the front of the house at incoming police. The Houston Police Department has not released the results of any ballistics testing and has not specified which guns were fired in the exchange.

quote:

Also left at the scene were powder-coated straws and about a dozen tiny plastic baggies with white residue inside, underneath debris by the living room sofa. Most were of the size that could be used to hold a gram of cocaine, a user-level amount. Though the Houston Forensic Science Center — the organization primarily responsible for processing scenes like the Harding Street home — removed evidence and took dozens of photographs of the house, experts and the slain couple’s attorneys both were baffled by the amount of material left behind. “I can’t explain why all that was left — that sounds like something only the Houston Police Department and investigators can answer,” said former Houston Police Chief Charles A. McClelland. “If that evidence is connected to that shooting scene, I’d certainly be asking questions.”
