House Building/Renovation Question: Do You Have A Window In Bathroom?

How many of you have a window in your bathroom?
And has anyone ever redone their bathroom, that had a window in it, but when redoing it, you decided to cover the window from the inside? Did you put some a closed shutter on the outside or something?

Just put in a new tub, as you can see there is a window. I think I am going to get the window covered from the inside.. But I guess it would look better if a closed shutter was on the outside?

We have windows in 3 of our 6 bathrooms.

Four of my bathrooms have windows but the other two don't.

That looks like a shitty bathroom.
But yes we have a window in ours. I had one growing up too. The frosted glass you couldn’t see through.

We have one in 2 of 3 bathrooms. They have the foggy glass.

Really? This is one of 8 that I have. That doesn't include a separate guest building that's 25 yards behind the house. In the guest building I only have 4 bathrooms.

Had one in my first house.
I covered the window and put in a shower surround.

Windows throughout our 7 bathrooms. If I had to rebuild again I would have put bigger showers in two of them instead of the 6x8 sit downs we went with for the kids.

Why close your exhaust fan. I remodeled our starter house 11 years ago. We expanded the bathroom by opening up the hall closet next to it. Had a small window and left it there. This house is on piers so it probably 8ft off the ground. Come to think of it our house growing two of the three were on the inside of the house, no windows.

No one believes this shite when you have a 1970s fluffy toilet lid cover.

Well, yeah, I mean with the walls down and a tub just being installed, etc.. It isn't going to look pretty..

Are you redoing your maid's house?

I lived in a rental in Southdowns years ago that had a low window like that in the shower. I think the house was built before shower heads were common. The window ledge/frame was completely rotted because of water from the shower. As much as I love windows/natural light, I'd probably close it in if I had something like that in my bathroom. Or make it a smaller long window above the shower line, so it doesn't collect water but still lets in light. Kinda like this, but even higher, depending on ceiling height:

What's the exterior finish on that wall?
We had a big glass block window in our bathroom that we closed in when rebuilding after the flood. The exterior finish on that wall was vinyl siding so we replaced it all and now it's seamless.

I am sorry we put an old toilet seat cover on the toilet while they had to take out a cast iron tub. I couldn't find my old prada toilet cover and I have a new one being specially made.

I had that exact same scenario in my house. My hall bath was a tub only with a window. The house is brick so it'd be hard to fill in. I decided to replace the window with glass block and tiled the walls making it a tub/shower combo. The glass block also allows light in and makes the room less claustrophobic.

I won't lie about the number of bathrooms I have in my house. I have 2, one upstairs that has an old-time window that swings out with a frosted glass pane and it is about 36" X 36" square and on a wall next to the tub.
The bathroom downstairs has 2 windows that also swing open that are also frosted glass and are 18" X 24".
I'm not a big fan of windows in tub walls because of the water issue with showers and keeping things leak proof is a must or you'll have mold, mildew, termite habitat, wood rot, etc.
