bet they do...if the Tundras start going a million miles theyre going to see a decline in sales

Doubt it. Probably see sales increase from people that don't want a shitbox that's going to die in five years (or less.)

The company I work for designs products for peak performance and durability first (arguably only for that). Our sales increase year over year primarily because many customers are tired of constantly replacing competitive products. They gladly pay us more to not have to worry about quality.

My dad sold his Camaro back in the 90s with 775k miles on it. Drove to Boston from LA on a regular basis for classes.

Dodge and Toyota are no where near the same discussion.

It's not that crazy to think he could go that long without anything major happening.

I know of a shipyard that had an air compressor for 30 years. Never had a major failure, and they never changed the oil, just added new oil as it got low.
There's always that 1 in a million case out there.

There's lots of industrial engines out there that log hundreds of thousands of hours without catastrophic failure. Quality stuff lasts forever if it's well taken care of.

Tundra reliability

When toyota built their first v8 tundra, it was essentially a mid 90s chevy truck. They didn't try to reinvent the wheel.

As other manufacturers have made the push toward fuel efficiency and saving weight, toyota has stuck with the same mentality they have always had.

It doesnt have to be the most powerful, the fastest, or the nicest. But gun to your head, you know which one you would pick if you had to make it to 400k miles.

If you ever look at marketshare of super high mileage vehicles, it is astounding the percentage toyota starts to command later on.

And if the earlier yotas didn't rust to shite if you sneezed on em, the percentage would be even higher.

I didn't say an orange can of death. The fram ultra filter is the best filter until you get into external filters.

I suggest you learn a little more about them. All synthetic media, silicone seals, metal end caps, and awesome filtration.

My company just rebuilt a gear box that was originally installed in 1963 from a paper mill in Alabama. No telling how many hours that thing has run without a failure.

Name an off the shelf filter that is better so I can gauge what kind of idiot I'm dealing with.

Sheppard had this to say about his 15th Tundra
And he had this one since 2007.

Wiki says the first Tundra was rolled out in 1999, so he had 14 Tundras in the previous 8 years?

Good gearboxes literally last forever.

I did an internship at a plant that made its own power with natural gas generators built in the 30's. One of the engines ran for 390 days without stopping.

The point is, well built shite is very much worth the up front premium in most instances if it's taken care of. I don't think you'll ever hear anyone say a Toyota pickup isn't relatively well built.

He always posts off the wall crap.

Ask him about all the high mileage Hondas still running.

FWIW, I think Cam will choke in the clutch. That's my gauge.

ETA: My bad, it is Toyota he is confused about.

Wix is a good economy filter. Excellent construction. But the media isn't designed to be pushed out to higher mileages. It also doesn't filter anywhere near as well.

If I'm restricted to that price point, motorcraft is much better.
