any word on Mammou?

I've been hearing that nothing short of nuclear holocaust would force Mamou to cancel Mardi Gras.

Just dig the canal or bayou deeper.

Just kidding...Houma's floats are decent sized floats. Some of which are even designed in part by Kern Studios.

The Krewe of Cleopatra at a time shared its floats with the Krewe of Caesar in Jefferson parish who is now defunct.

The Krewe of Hercules has even repurposed one of the large Alligators from the 1984 World's Fair as its grand marshal float.

Their reasoning was that they didn't feel like toasting so late anymore. So instead of moving the viewing stands, they reversed to route cause god forbid the rich people need to stay up til 11pm to toast it up.

So now, the parade will be getting to the mall (where families go) late at night, but downtown (where people party) earlier. IDK wtf this new Sheriff is thinking.

Hercules parade is wild, don’t turn your back to any floats.

Yea I agree....
I wish he would have just kept it the old way....
Can't wait to see what the Houma Mafia says about this.

Would they really be missed?

I haven’t been to Houma Mardi Gras in years but it was always fun - although it’s the only time the guys in our group got in a fight with someone else

I've marched in those Houma parades, and they're fricking brutal. A long route, and a town where everyone knows each other. The floats constantly stop. What should have been a 2 hour parade turned into a 5+ hour slog.

Big dummy just making changes to say he is making changes. Typical Louisiana bullshite. I live in Louisiana but I really don’t care for Mardi Gras anymore. A lot of people act like they won’t live if it’s cancelled.

Amen. Especially how many tires pop, having to stop at Kmart for the turns, etc.

Maybe they should avoid the ghettos altogether. From Bayou Gardens, don't turn on W. Park.
Cross the bayou, go down MLK, turn right on St Charles, end the parade at the Vahli intersection.

’s completely irresponsible to have a Mardi Gras at all during these times.

That was the main reason that New Orleans and Louisiana had such huge numbers. You only have yourself to blame for your businesses and jobs being shut down!

You should love Houma parades. You can hear them from the jail along the route
