Rather disturbing article, but fitting this close to Halloween perhaps. I've never had it but have no issues with horse meat, but the idea of some lady finding the filleted remains of her prized horse out in a field is a little sickening.

You don't even need to tell us where it happened...we would have guessed

I dunno, maybe just how I've read it and I've heard lots of horror stories on podcasts over the last few days. Pictured them leading the horse out, cutting its artery, filleting it, and the lady that owns it finding it the next morning out on her property.

Really not that disturbing. I mean, it's a fricking horse and at least it will get eaten. Still sucks for the owner but come on, horses are barely above cattle.

From your post time I see this just was reported. You don't have to be a Gallup pollster to know where this happened, these stories are trotted out regularly. Florida is saddled with odd folks, all jockeying for news coverage.

I agree with the horse cattle thing, but I'd be shook up if someone did that to my cow too. The act and not the animal. I'd still eat horse meat as well (I guess, unless it tastes like crap) even though it's red and gives me cancer.

The Swiss make some pretty good sausage that is horse based,
Mostbröckli.

That's pretty common, especially in Florida. There was a huge story on it a few years ago because they found a former Big 3 winner (preknies I think) about to be chopped up on a hell farm. They're everywhere in central Florida. Usually just out of view.

Problem is, I guarantee that horse had been given drugs not safe for human consumption. Hell, my pet horse has had 5 or 6 of the things on the list. It's different if they are raised with being eaten in mind.
