re: Homeless people are a plight on our society

The homeless and panhandling has gotten out of control. Last night my family and I were on broadway in Nashville and this bum crossed through traffic diagonally from the other side of the street. He was clearly completely wasted. He walks up to my 8 yr old son asking for a fist bump. My son bewilderingly gives him one. The bum staggers and swoons for a second and pulls out a wad of cash and drunkenly starts trying to pull out a $5 to give to my son. He’s struggling to grab it and the crosswalk light changes and we leave him at the corner. My son was kinda upset about it because he’s never seen someone in that condition.

You can start fixing it by actually identifying them correctly and call them what they really are:
- Bums
- Derelicts
- Addicts
- Mental cases
- Anarchists
- Grifters
- Any combination of the above
and yes, some are homeless and some are not.
At some point they made it a life choice. frick 'em. Let them go seek help. I don't mind paying taxes for rehab but there's no fricking way I will ever give bums money to fuel their addiction and that lifestyle.

You didn't "call" shite. You accused him. Now I'm accusing you of being Abraham Lincoln. See how that logic works?

Some cops, prison busses, trash trucks, cleaning equipment and some man power patrolling everyday seeking and dismantling the homeless population is what we need.
As soon as they try to set up camp somewhere else, arrest them and wipe them out again.
They will have to leave the areas where things are handled like that.
You ask, well where will they go?
Who cares where they go, at least they are out of your area.
The homeless people will end up where their lifestyle is enabled.

Mkay, so mentally ill go to insane asylum(not sure why those went away anyways).
What to do with the rest? The constitution protects them.

Our society enables it.
Anchorage Alaska has a massive homeless problem… think about that?

Soundbites don't hide low IQ comprehension. I was responding to the person who said jail the homeless. I think that stance is un-American and moronic. Still, I'm not overly sympathetic. For addicts, my solution would be to catapult drug-o-choice at them until they wake up in Valhalla.

Due process, dipshit. You can't just round citizens up and throw them in jail.
We’ll, couldn’t we use them to pull rickshaws around the city?

Help the ones who want help.
Herd the rest somewhere and give them all the fentanyl they want. They want to die in a drug induced haze, let them.

I live in a City with no homeless. The police will escort them outside of city limits. Every business is hiring and will find you housing if you are willing.

Every homeless person I know mis-uses the word plight.
Do you own a tent yet?

Welcome to 2023 brother. This problem is far from reaching its climax. Learn to deal with it or move to the country.

I`m not that old but I do remember riding bikes with my friends down Camp St. and Lafayette Square where most of the bums hung out in New Orleans in the late 60`s. There was a plasma clinic nearby where the bums would sell their plasma for wine money. One day while riding through there one of my friends harassed the bums with his bike and one of the bums grabbed him. He didn`t try to hurt him but instead they sat us down, offered us a rolled up cigarette and we had a fatherly/bum to kids talk. They told us that they just travel the country and were former military. The bums didn`t seem nutso crazy, they just wanted to be left alone.
It`s a whole new game with the homeless these days.
It takes time for the destructive policies of the liberals to come to light and it`s way past that point now and something needs to be done about it.
Regan/RINO just continued the destructive BS that LBJ started.

Ok so creating loitering and squatting laws, then enforcing those laws is moronic, but theatrically providing drugs in hopes of OD (freeing up space for more of them) is total high IQ comprehension

We moved all services out of downtown, improved the downtown area 100%.
Villages send their ne'er do wells here, and its a fairly Democrat stronghold, but they did it, kicked them out of downtown.
