Today is apparently "break stuff" day at my house.

Dog destroyed the netting of a small soccer goal.

Kid destroyed the 1 inch thick glass top of the coffee table.

YAY ME.

4 year old girl, 21 month old girl, 7 months pregnant.

I am working from home, so I have them follow a schedule to keep it as much like preschool as possible. Bought a few things on Amazon and pulled some existing things to make centers like at their school. I have some stuff set aside and will give them a “new” thing every week or so to keep it interesting. Rotate them out, really.

They have done “nature walks” with a $5 Amazon magnifying glass and I give them things to find like tree bark or a snail. Latest fascination is catching slugs with sticks.

Pulled out baby pool and let them splash as much as possible on back patio.

Play doh. They can never get enough play doh.

Bought safety scissors and gave them stacks of junk mail and old coloring sheets they finished with. They literally cut things up for hours one day.

Bought cheap shaving cream and will let them “write” in it on their plastic table.

Oldest counted beads into muffin cups. Youngest worked on matching bead colors with muffin cups.

Crafts - dollar store window decorations, egg dying kits, yarn and beads for necklaces, paint on whatever boxes we have, sidewalk chalk.

Planning on having them do an egg hunt in the backyard.

Gel window clings to decorate for random holidays are $1 at dollar general or target dollar spot. My kids love them and it will keep them occupied for a while.

They like to clean. Think it is cool to use the vacuum or wipe spray off windows. Give them a rag and they’ll do it almost as long as I will.

Bake cookies. The ones you can frost and decorate are the best.

Practice running. My oldest seems to have endless energy so we set markers in the yard and time her until she wears herself out. Practicing jumping is also useful.

Audible has selections of kids books and stories for free because of all the kids being home.

Scholastic is one of the companies opening up their website so people can get education materials and ideas. Others are said to be doing the same.

If you have a stash of paper, show them how to make paper airplanes or do origami. There are tons of ideas for making both online.

Have a pack or two of cards? Get them to build a house of cards.

If you have clovers in your yard, have them find four leaf clovers.

Look up slime recipes online. There are a few different ways to make it so find one that seems easiest and let them make slime.

Tell them to go hide and you will come find them. Then forget about finding them and enjoy the quiet.
