Made a churn for Christmas and the family devoured it so I just made a second churn for myself.

I wonder how many calories are in 6 quarts of ice cream?

TIL that a churn is a measure of ice cream.

All of them. I haven't made any ice cream in a minute. My butter pecan is awesome.

FYI:
Find a frozen custard recipe and make it. When it is made, or as part of the recipe, add some Country Time lemonade mix to it and stir it in.

It tastes just like Chick-fil-a's frosted lemonade.

Deceased father-in-law had a peach tree farm & we used to pick fresh peaches, wash'em, & throw several into the ice cream blender. Nuttin better. Unless you put a large slice of hot apple pie under a large scoop. With anything home made, carbs, calories, fat grams, don't count. Wife's rules.

Love making ice cream. Back in the 50s my granddaddy used to run to the ice house down the road, pick up a couple of blocks of ice, chop them up with an ice pick and throw them in the churn. Then us grand kids were responsible for hand cranking the churn for an hour or so. I still use granddaddy's recipe except I use an electric churn and bags of ice from 7-11.

Homemade ice cream is awesome. I'm a vanilla guy myself, get the big bottle from the Mexican grocery. There are no macros in homemade ice cream. The best gift we got when we got married 28 years ago was an ice cream churn. Been through several since.

Yep...good times right there. Old fellow that ran the local ice house had a bum eye, wore overalls, smoked a cigar and also ran the local wrecker service. He was quite the character.

Is there a secret to it? Most of what I've had has been too runny and have your a brain freeze more readily.

If done well...is it really better than Blue Bell?

Probably because they made it with less heavy whipping cream to save calories and did not let it set up a little in the freezer after it was made. It's been many years since I made any, but homemade Toasted Almond was really good.
