Was expecting more for $750k in Leeds, Alabama. Would have guessed you'd be living like Puff Daddy not Karen.

I'm not saying this is what is going on, but it made me remember a situation in my neighborhood. A company bought a house from one of its employees who they had move to a different city. They hired out a realtor to sell it for them. Well the realtor way overpriced the house, then moved in while it was listed. She stayed there for about 1.5 years before the company finally noticed. She last another 6 months as they had to go through the courts to get her evicted due to squatter laws.

Way too much paperwork and record keeping requirements for someone to launder that much cash through a home sale, I would think.

Why does it bother you so much? The guy prolly doesn’t want to move. But he would move if someone paid that amount for the house. It’s very simple to understand

I’m mostly just entertained in all the neighbors comments about it on the fb page. If you’re familiar with the area it’s also pretty humorous.

Almost any new house, with the exception of custom built stuff, is going to be DSL, DR Horton, etc. And almost any house built after 2000 is going to be relatively similar in layout depending on region and how many different models those companies use. The only real difference in price is location and most of that is perceived value. House-wise, they know exactly to the penny what it cost to build them and there is very little variation on how much they are worth.

Nothing D.R. Horton (or DSLD) builds is worth $450K, let alone 3/4 of a million.

Does it have a Master Bedroom? Or one of those new fancy "Primary" bedrooms?

They deposit cash through their "friendly neighborhood bank" and then wire the money for the sale. A lot of banks outside of the USA allow this shite to happen all the time.

This home should be somewhere between $270-$299 tops

At 300K that would be $65 a sq ft. I know nothing about Leeds AL but would you sell me your house for $65 a sq ft

Can you explain this further. Im not sure this is right. If it were a cash purchase. Yes/possibly

I could see it as ...loophole tax evasion...but not money laundering

Can’t imagine spending $750k much less $300k in Leeds, Alabama

Everything in that house is outdated AF as well

Several banks throughout the world, notably in Nigeria and China, will allow their customers to deposit unholy amounts of cash and not really say anything about it. They don't question the source of the cash. Therefore, dirty cash can be entered into the financial system and wired for real estate purchases. Once the real estate seller receives the wired cash, it is cleanly in the financial system.

Which brings up another point, that house is NOT 4500sq ft. Closer to 3200 at the most.
