It's absolutely based on his connection to Barry Seal along with other individuals involved in the cocaine trade in the 80's.
I highly doubt it was a factor in their deaths but still an interesting tidbit nonetheless.

I agree with the poster earlier - until the Barry Seal/drug trade rumor is mentioned publicly by police, I say leave it out of this thread unless you post "NOT CONFIRMED" at the beginning of your post.

It only "repaints the entire ordeal" if they were killed in a drug ripoff or some type of drug transaction gone wrong. All indications are that a dimbulbed handy man killed them for ten or twenty grand in a safe. I hardly think that a guy hanging out with Barry Seal 30 years ago has any bearing on his murder this week.

Think the implications are that something was found at house or on property, not his 30 yr old relationships.
Still nothing confirmed and who knows, if detectives found something like drugs on their property, it's quite possible they had nothing to do with it.

That's my point. So what, if a small amount of recreational drugs were found? Did it have any bearing on the murders? If not, so what. No big deal.
If the guy had kilos of coke and hundreds of thousands (or probably millions, if he's been dealing for 35 years or so) in his safe, then maybe (possibly? Probably?) there's more to this story. If not, it still sounds like a dimbulbed handy man took advantage of their good nature.
