Home AC/ Attic fan, House fan combo

Anyone here use a house fan in their home to suck the inside hot air into the attic, and then from there the attic fans and attic vents draw that hot air out? Guy at work swears by his. Says he comes home from work, flips on the switch to suck out the hot air, and from there the AC is able to col the house.
Do they really work this well? Not worried about the noise because it will only be turned on for a few minutes to flush out the hot air.
This place sells nicer ones

That one does. But that's that model.

The whole point of an attic fan is (in combination with open windows/doors) to circulate air through the house. That just makes it feel cooler than air that isn't moving.
Any air it sucks out is going to be replaced by air from the attic or air from outside. Presumably both of those would be hotter than the inside air was to begin with if the guy uses his a/c.

Where does your friend live?
For this to work the air inside the house would have to be hotter than the air outside the house, and even then you'd have to have the air sucked out of the attic as fast as the ceiling exhaust fans puts the in home air into the attic.
My question would be why would the air inside your house be hotter than the air outside your house?

Correct
It will have to pull in outside air in as it blows the current inside air out to the attic.
In some cases it may work. Others it may not.
Late evening, maybe.
Right as it starts to rain, sure.
Heat of the day with the outside temp vey hot, not so sure.
I'm only going by what one guy tells me here at work

My dad installed one in the house I grew up in when ur it was built. They work great. I'd recommend it.
Only thing is, at 3'x3', thats larger than your truss spans. Which means you'd need a carpenter to build headers. And depending on where you want it installed, the truss webs might be bearing on you truss' bottom cord.
It's been over s a decade since I've done any framing inspections. But I think they are space sure 24" o.c. It's something to consider. But they do work great.

Considering they usually go in the laundry room, who gives a shite? You don't install them in main areas of the house

We had one on the second floor of an older house we lived in. It was big, like in the picture, made a ton of noise, but it actually worked. There were just 3 bedrooms upstairs, and in the hottest part of the summer, we'd turn it on for about 15 minutes. The house was built in the early 40s and not the most efficient thing. Central air was added way later, and I think this thing had been there for decades. It was out in the hallway between my sister's bedroom and a bathroom. You could only see it from her bedroom with the door open, or standing in that hallway. The staircase was right there and a wall blocked you from seeing it from downstairs.

My house has one because it was built in 1940, before central air conditioning, so it was how you cooled the house back in the day. We've never used it. The switch is actually taped over. It's huge, and ugly, and we plan on having it sheetrocked over when we do our big renovation.

We loved to turn ours on when I was growing up to hear my Mom scream at us. That thing would move some air!

Never used it. Try it out. See how it works

Got one in my laundry room, I open the window and turn it on to vent the attic, works great
