I don’t think the FCC did much. Nexstar and Sinclair complaining about him and about Disney doing nothing on Tuesday and thru when decision was made on Wednesday probably had more weight.
Even though the networks only push their wireless service when in negotiations with a cable or satellite provider to get more money from them and eventually the cable subscribers being a broadcaster over public airwaves does have some built in oversight over misinformation and equal time requirements from the govt licensing those airwaves, but it wouldn’t have been able to that much for one time. Maybe if it they just allowed it to continue unchecked or unchallenged by opposing side for a while and especially within set time before elections. Anything Disney would have really been concerned about would be what the FCC might find during an investigation more than what FCC could do based on Kimmel said. That plus maybe holding up Nexstar’s acquisition.
