Honestly, it looks like an American design
It is. The country that one belonged to was Finland. They used the swastika as their insignia on their aircraft in the 30's & 40's...

It looks virtually swept clean.
The valley amplified the effect - despite the modest yield, the physical destruction by Fat Man was, as you've illustrated, very, very complete for such an early weapon design.

1. Name that carrier
Bonus: What's up with the paint?

Please tell me my OT stalker just took the time and effort to go back 20+ pages to down vote every single one of my posts in this thread.

Dunno about the carrier, but that's razzle dazzle camo.

I'll wait about revealing it's name and country of origin so Ace has his chance at it.

And what was it's purpose?
Posted on 7/8/14 at 3:58 pm to SSpaniel
The camo pattern was to make it difficult to judge the distance of the ship on the horizon

Yep as well as direction that it was going. It was meant to throw off German U-boats.
Now what about that carrier?

"Dazzle Camo" - was supposed to give enemy gunners seizures or something. I think that was during the impressionist painting period.

Hmmm. What told you this? Barcelona is a port city but there were scores of port cities bombed during from the mid 30's through 1945.
Bonus: Do you know the primary Italian Bomber from both the Spanish civil War & WWII?

Looks legit - the whole port/marina is kind of distinctive - now that I look at a map of Barcelona.

Looks like that's the case.
As for the Italian bomber that's taking the picture, it's got to be the venerable Savoia-Marchetti SM.79.

Wikipedia. But you can look at Barcelona on Google maps and easily match it up.

Bingo. I can't imagine what they went through. I was a tanker and it was crammed as shite in our tanks, especially when I was a driver....
But at least I was not 35,000' up in the air!
