She was in China. That's the USS Panay. She's famous because she was attacked and sunk by the Japanese in December 1937 while she was anchored at Nanking (yes, that Nanking).

That's got to be the Caribbean or Central America. The men are clearly from the 82nd Airborne. The fact one of them is armed with a M79 grenade launcher tells me the picture has to be from the 60s. Hmmmm. I'm drawing a blank.

Dominican Republic in 1965. Over 44,000 US troops went ashore during the Dominican civil war. About 200 or so were killed. The vietnam war obviously overshadowed it.
