You have a lot of money that you want to invest in a newer home. All of the newer jobs/roads/infrastructure/stores/chains gravitate towards that end of town.

You really think I'm going to live right on an extention to an interstate that has awful traffic, older infrastructure, lower quality homes, and just an older base for everything?

Economics. Mostly trend based and speculative/investment based. Based around chess players using land as the pawns.

Poverty has more to do with this than race. The same shite happens at your trailer parks than your ghettos.

Also, finish reading my comment:

That's why I think that is what it is. At least in the case of lafayette. Evangeline thrw will always be horrible. Just like no one chooses to live in freetown.

But if another ethnicity moves into a predominantly white, Christian, suburban area, it’s considered a positive to see the culture change.

How are they being pushed out? It sounds like they are voluntarily selling their property.

Dude, is this 20 questions?

Google speculative investing. They're banking on financial trends in the job, housing, and retail markets.

Better living follows money, plain and simple. Same can be said for those who want to invest in lower income areas: more money and more investing brings better infrastructure/education/living/retail/housing.

It's why you see the horrid "gentrification" word thrown around for private investment, yet when the government attempts the same with our tax dollars, it falls apart. Corruption and misallocation of funds has a lot to do with that.

I know you're attempting to race bait, but let's get this straight:

Numbers and stats don't see race. They see poverty, which is directly correlated to your financial statistics. Plain and simple.

But at the end of the day, that's based around POVERTY. White students who grow up in the same locations run the risk for the same leg chains of poverty. See: Eunice, Jennings, Rayne, Crowley, Opelousas, Ville Platte. Unless you come from farming or already have a family member with a specialized job, you probably WILL be either in the service sector, military, or oil field. Point blank. And it's YOUR responsibility to fix your situation. The state fails THOSE communities and kids, black and white.

Why is gentrification looked down upon but black people moving into historically white neighborhoods not?

Why do you think? Because in the former scenario they risk losing a Democrat locked seat.

My neighborhood is kind of like that. I see more white people jogging and walking dogs every week. Houses are getting renovated all over the place. Zillow prices are up about 10% in the last 6 months. The school ratings shown in Zillow, etc. have even crept up.

I don't see where this is a bad thing.

So you can see why “young professionals“ moving as far away as possible from the north east side of Lafayette would facilitate better living for them than the abandoned communities that you suggest should be grateful to leave their homes?

I would take a flame thrower to parts of the North Side if I could. Lafayette is a cool little city ,but driving in on 49 to the Evangeline Thruway is usually the first thing people see who are not from the area. City would be so much better if parts of the North Side weren't such a shithole.

The fear is if the properties in these neighborhoods are bought the long-standing history and culture will be lost.

A culture formed due to white supremacy and institutional racism that cares less when a black life is taken by a black than a “white supremacist” police officer doesn’t sound like a bad thing to lose…

But seriously like someone mentioned it’s racist when whites leave them and area goes bad, and it’s racist when whites come back and want to improve the area.

Quit hanging onto a culture of victimhood and blame. The Soul of a Nation is Hollywood BS, and will never be true until blacks let go of their broken culture, group think, group victimhood, their need to see race first always, and need to think every perceived negative interaction with a white person is because of the white person’s racism towards them instead of their own attitude they bring into the interaction and also their own racism towards white people and really all other races.

I know it’s not all blacks or most of them, but we are back to being told to see them as a group and not individuals with too few standing up to the current message pushers. That message drives that thugs are martyrs and are the actual heart and soul of the “Soul of a Nation” culture.

Funny thing about this racist country...that is not unique to Baton Rouge. It literally happens in every metro area I've ever seen.

Why do so many black families want to be near deplorables?
