Briar forest was a nice neighborhood until the refugees moved next door

It’s estimated that 20-25k moved to Houston and stayed after Katrina. In a metro of 7 million plus, we are talking .0025-.003% of the population. Houston has been using Katrina for an excuse for 20 years, perhaps they should resize their problems are their own

You’d much rather have Hispanics move into a specific area like this who contribute to the economy as opposed to the ghetto, shite culture who do nothing but lay around all day and collect Government checks.

So true. There's areas along Old Hammond Hwy that have in recent years changed from being SNAP recipient culcha to Hispanic families. Some of the most notable improvements are not just the fact the residences are being taken care of, but also that the parents put the kids on the school bus every day.

And a large portion of them moved to the apartments in and around brair forest. That’s significant

Houston was a shithole long before Katrina transplants made it worse. I’m sure they did have an effect though. They had an effect on San Antonio, a place that probably got even less of these transplants than Houston did.

I have definitely seen a noticable increase in the Latino population in LC. For the most part, it seems like decent hard-working families.

I can confirm that over 90% of Hispanic population in NOLA metro is of Honduran descent. The history of immigration from Honduras to NOLA goes back to the banana trade & there’s always been roots here for them. And my woman is Honduran, but moved to USA/L.A. back when she was 16, and when we go to NOLA, she says “Papi, all the Hispanic people here are Honduran” because she will strike up random Convos & it truly interesting that the banana trade created this relationship between the 2 regions.

Construction workers are now vast majority Hispanic. After big hurricanes you have massive construction projects which leads to massive influx of Hispanics. it was the same along Mississippi Gulf Coast after Katrina
