I had bilateral anterior replacement 2018 at age 65. Walking the same day. Discharged next morning. Minimal pain meds needed for about 4 days. Was driving a little at day 10. Get the circulating ice water machine off Amazon vs at BROC or wherever you have the procedure. I gave up jogging and heavy squats out of concern about wearing the hardware out. Recovery is easier than shoulder or back surgery

My dad had full hip replacement 2 years ago, at 78 years young. He had surgery early that morning and was home shortly after lunch. First few days were rough, but within a week, he was perfectly fine and walking around with no pain.

I'm a PT and the anterior hip replacement is 100% the way to go.
Agree man. Had anterior in January. Walking THAT DAY and was home by noon. I walked into my house. Was on a walker only because doc said if you fall this early, it will undo everything we just did.
Used the walker for a day or so then went to a cane for a couple of days even though I didn't think I needed it. Got off that but was very deliberate with my steps. Did PT for 6 weeks and by the 5th week I was running the ladder drill like a D1 running back (not actually but anyway).
The key to me was committing to the PT and really pushing myself. If he wanted 10 squats I gave him 12. If he wanted 15 inclined leg presses I gave him 20. Make it uncomfortable but not to the point of pain.

Skip had both replaced & seemed to have no real issues beyond a limp. Part of which was probably due to his old age.

A friend from work said that his only regret was putting it off for so long out of fear.
That’s what almost everyone says!
