why the hell would you do that? Address it with your employee, not her.

Personally and professionally, he gets a lunch hour to use his time to take care of personal matters. I'm all for a non-micro managed workplace, because I think its healthy and allows the real achievers to rise to the forefront. That said, in my opinion, it's a respect issue. Until you address the expectations for a healthy balance of work and socializing in the workplace, you are going to be "irked". He doesn't really respect you or his co-workers, and is doing what he is allowed to do.

I'm curious about what to are selling that has 18-20 year old sales people? The only people I know who employs that age range for sales is Hoover vacuums, door to door coupon books, magazines subscriptions, and UVerse marketing affiliates.

Understand one thing: you are purchasing this person's time. His time is his product to sell and it is up to him to deliver a quality product.

Props to you for paying attention during your seminar.

As I read this I immediately came to the conclusion this guy is a green best buy sup because I use to be one before graduating and these are typical situations for a retail sup to go through lol.

No need to talk to the girl because she is not your employee. Sit down with the boy and tell him that she is only allowed around him during lunch.

And if you're unsure of where to find pictures of the GF just tell us your boys name and the OT will get to work.

So, what Domino's Pizza do you manage?

Seriously, grab a broom, hand it to the GF and tell her as long as she is here she might as well do some work. She won't come in anymore and problem solved.

This isn't even remotely a close call. Tell him to come to your office for a private meeting and remind him that if he wants to spend his lunch half hour with her so be it, but working hours are for working. Hopefully he'll respond positively before you have to take more concrete steps.

BTW document everything just in case. You should have a way of monitoring people's productivity, take advantage of that.

Gonna need pics to make a determination.

But seriously....Does your team/business have performance goals or quotas? Is he meeting his requirements? How the frick can he make "sales calls" with a gf around? As a minimum, you have to communicate with your client, right? Personally, work time is work time. That crap needs to end or you start docking his time while she's there.

But really seriously....Pics, dammit!

No seminar son, just experience. This guy is young and needs to be to hear that kind of direction.

I actually really like that saying, thank you man. Yeah, I do want to put an end to it but I also know crazy women and I feel like if I kick her out, I may have to deal with even crazier shite from her, if that makes sense.
This managing thing may not be for you if a gf/non employee is coming and spending hours talking to one of your employees and you're not sure if you should do something about it.

You forgot these guys....

If you were 18-21 in BR in the mid to late 1990s....you likely went and sat through their presentation and actually considered hassling people to sell those damn knives.

No way would I tolerate that behavior.

Shut that down with the quickness.
