it's a message that needs to get out and is long overdue.
I agree 100 percent, but I don't believe funerals are a place for such things, just as I don't think it was right for speakers at McCain's funeral to turn it into petty political theater.
Went to a funeral at my church a few years back, and the guest pastor used his 15 minutes to go on and on about gay rights in the church. Everyone was looking around and wondering what happened to the funeral for our friend Cal. It was awful.

Although he makes a good point, what a strange occasion to even mention that kind of thing. Also, they said he spoke those words 20+ minutes into a 50+ minuted speech! Black pastors love to hear themselves talk. Apparently black celebrity funerals don't matter either or he would have saved that shite for a more appropriate occasion.

Holy shite. This guy is about to feel the full force of the leftist media machine. Hope it was worth it to say what everyone knows is true but doesn't want to admit.
No he won’t have it bad. When you are black and say that you are just ignored. When you are white and say that, you are labeled a racist and your life is destroyed.
He will be fine.

Did you have the same problem with McCain's funeral being politicized?
He was a life long politician. Smh

Good thing this board is so open minded to Republicans who have their own opinions.
John McCain anyone?
PS I’m not going after you or you’re post personally/specifically, it’s just the hypocrisy is everywhere. The mood swings on this board give me freaking whiplash.

Re "falling on deaf ears", I was sitting in the company lunch room where numerous middle aged, low wage earners blacks were listening to his eulogy their on phones. All were mocking him and one said "he's just an old silly fool" and they all started laughing and agreeing. As for Political Board material, they still love Slick Willy and his other.

Unless Aretha specifically asked asked for this, it's disgusting to politicize at a funeral like that.

The sad thing is that music really shouldn't be "politicized".
I realize that there have always been politically charged lyrics in pop (term used loosely) music of today and recent generations. However, music should be all about inclusiveness, where each person can enjoy the feelings from great music created, regardless of your political leanings. I never had any music talent, but if I did, I would write lyrics that would relate to everyone, not one political side.
That is one good thing about sports. As fans of a certain team, you can always join together and cheer regardless of who you vote for, etc.
Music should be the same.
I have no idea what Aretha's feelings were on this.

What does that have to do with Aretha Franklin though?
