Damn strong words, but why speak them at Aretha Franklin's funeral?

eta: Edited to replace "spraj." WTF? I fricking loathe auto-correct, and will beat the person who invented it to a bloody pulp if I ever meet him/her.

Seriously, spraj isn't even a word, and how is that an appropriate replacement for 'speak?'

I suspect that Aretha would have selected him to make that very message.

That dudes about to get raked over the coals. Guarantee a “scandal” is about to break. There is a literal army of left wing reporters going through his life with a fine tooth comb getting ready for a cyber lynching.

Yeah but at least this time he’s speaking some truth that needs to be said.

This is the “conversation” that needs to happen more.

Same reason the Dems are using McCains funeral to attack Trump; crappy media will run with it. Can’t just honor the deceased anymore you have to make it racial or political.

This. I don’t think he gives that message unless she wanted him to.

Also, the idea of ‘getting back to Church’ is not so much as literal as much as a moral principle thing. Get back to having respect and values for yourself and your neighbors. If that requires actually attending your church of choice that’s great, but simply get back to finding a reason to live with good morals.

Is this the pastor that groped Ariana Grande or was that a different one?

Absolute truth. Have another upvote.

The pastor at the funeral was absolutely correct as well.

Admins may want to move this to the PT board.....just sayin....

Where else is he going to have the size audience he had for this occasion? I also agree with posters who said Aretha probably asked him to do this. Either way, it's a message that needs to get out and is long overdue.

What does any of that have to do with Aretha Franklin?

Just as much as phantom oppression has to do with the NFL. But at least this message is worthwhile.

Don't think the old guy sees it your way. He probably really did mean it literally.

Love God with everything you've got, all in, and love your neighbor like you love yourself and want to be loved. Husbands, love your wives like Christ loved his Church and laid down his life for it. Fathers, don't provoke your children to exasperation and anger but raise them in the love and nurturing of Christ Jesus. Children obey and honor your parents.

You'll hear those preached pretty regularly in the Church with members trying with all they've got to do them and make love an active verb instead of a manufactured emotion. I think that's what the pastor was preaching about.

IMO.

Why was President Clinton there?
The social and political left has been using funerals of their "leaders" to advance their agenda since the rock concert that called itself a funeral for Senator Paul Wellstone of Minnesota sone 20 or so years ago.
