For the past 2 weeks, there's been a "fake" cop parked at the Henderson exit on I-10E. It's an old broken down police car, and there's no one in it. They even move it around so it looks like it's a real cop.

Reminds me of that part in Super Troopers where the guy uses a dummy so he could go fishing.

There are small towns in Texas that do this regularly, but the kicker is one day you'll be driving thru and bam the lights go on and you get a nice expensive ticket the bastards

Does Kenner still do this? I drive to New Orleans area weekly and haven't seen the cop car that used to be located on I-10 coming off the bridge.

it's not, really. but, if it at least makes people slow down a little, it's a good thing.

slow down for what? coming down a hill where you can see all traffic in front of you clearly? I ought to be able to do 100 coming off the bridge.

Causeway has a fleet of empty cars parked at the crossovers.

Its more likely to cause wrecks as dumbasses like to slam on their brakes when they see a cop even if they arent speeding

Bro I think thats just a piece of shite someone left on the interstate. All the windows are broken out of it and it has no markings of a police car at all (other than the bumper). I would think the vehicle would have some markings like the Kenner PD decoy if it were legit. Besides, it just showed up on I10 last week.

I remember reading a news story several years ago about a guy who got arrested for beating the shite out of that empty cop car.
Homie had a road rage incident with another car or something like that so he pulled over to tell that cop about it. He was so pissed that the car was a fake that he went nuts on the car.

There used to be one that they would move around on crossover #4, but it disappeared for a couple years. It was one of the old Causeway Police cars. I actually just saw a decoy car the other day but it was one of the SUVs

Because the people that don't know about it slow down, and eventually they will replace it with a real cop.

No markings. Just a busted up white lead sled.

I have passed that several times in the last week. While it may seem like a good idea, having anything on the side of a road where cars/trucks are going by at 70+ mile per hour is a recipe for disaster. If this is put out by the Henderson PD, I sure hope their insurance premiums are paid up.
