I have accepted a position in the Biloxi area. I need expert opinions on places to live, especially with regards to schools. I have one child that will be starting high school and one that will be in 4th grade. Neighborhoods, academics, and sports are top priorities, and I don't need to live 5 minutes from work.

If you have a boy then send him to st. stanislaus. My brother lives in Pass Christian on Scenic Drive. It is pretty nice.

I have a friend that works for DuPont and lives in Pass Christian. He seems to like it. I also have a relative in Ocean Springs who thinks it's great. I need some people with experience raising kids in these areas. I know St. Stanislaus is great. Not sure how my son would feel about it though.

Where are you moving from? Any experience with the Gulf Coast?

Where in the Biloxi area? It's quite a distance from Ocean Springs over to Pass Christian.

I grew up in the NOLA area and went to the coast often as a kid. I haven't lived in the area for 16+ years. That's part of the reason for moving. Trying to get closer to home and family.

Not familiar with the roads, but it's north of I-10. I have always commuted 30-40 miles, so a short drive to be in an ideal area doesn't bother me. It will be less than that from either Pass Christian or Ocean Springs.

Good deal. Was going to give you an opinion on an outsiders view who works there a lot. But you seem to be covered.

A friend recently moved to Ocean Springs. It's a nice, low crime area, close to Biloxi. Nice homes can be bought for less than $160K.

North Biloxi, D'Iberville- personally I would stay north of I 10. All of Ocean Springs seems pretty nice to me, I have some friends in that area.

Stay away from the Gulfport, Orange Grove areas.

I don't have an area. That's what I'm trying to find out. I'm open to the best place within a 30 or so mile radius of Biloxi north of I-10.

edit: job will be north of I-10. I don't need to live north of I-10.

Subtle brag?

Scenic may have a collective group of the nicest homes on the coast period. To say it's nice in the pass may be an understatement.

Good friends dad lives there and I dated a girl for a good while who's parents live on scenic as well. Was on the coast for 6 yrs. I prefer the pass and the bay areas. Just commute to Biloxi. If you don't want to drive that then live in ocean springs and cross the bridge to Biloxi.
Stanislas is a great school if you want to go provate

I'm so sorry man. Worst 2 years of my life were spent living in Gulfport. Outside of Taco Sombrero, that place can go frick itself.

Ocean Springs is hands down the best city on the MS Coast. Hell, it may be the best city in the entire state.

I like Bay St. Louis as well. Depending on where your job is (A long commute in that area will suck, trust me. Live as close to where you are working as possible), I'd gravitate toward one of those two.

What's the story on commuting traffic? I will have to be there in April and my family won't follow until the end of the school year. I thought about commuting from my in-laws in Slidell for those 2 months (50-55 miles). Am I going to hate life?
