A little known, great place to live is Diamondhead, which is on the north side of the Bay just north of I10. You'll have easy access to I10 for work, and you'll still only be about 15 minutes from the beach and Stanislaus.

Question about Diamondhead. Are there more younger people living there now or do I still have my senior citizen goggles on.

My in-laws have lived there over 25 years. I find it to be a bunch of old cranky senior citizens.

I could be wrong though. I usually just go to their house and to the "club" to have lunch.

I know my in-laws have not been happy since the subdivision became a city.

I know there are younger families but just wondering if it is predominately older folks?

We love BSL, but that could make a steep commute depending on the actual location of your job.

Pass Christian has the best public schools in the state. You might want that since it saves money on tuition and you'll want to save money for college (our universities aren't as good as other states).

Youth soccer is very good around here.

Housing is crazy cheap, so don't be deterred by a low price. Just visit the neighborhood and pay attention to the flood maps. You can get a nice house for $100k.

What's the story on commuting traffic? I will have to be there in April and my family won't follow until the end of the school year. I thought about commuting from my in-laws in Slidell for those 2 months (50-55 miles). Am I going to hate life?

You'll learn which roads to avoid during rush hour.

Ocean Springs in a cool city, but I wouldn't want to live there. I would be miserable if my commute involved Highway 90. I bought a house not long ago in McHenry to get away from all of the traffic and people. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I looked at houses from Diamondhead to Ocean Springs to McHenry. I really like McHenry because I can take Highway 49 to Gulfport or Highway 67 down to Biloxi/D'Iberville and it only takes about 30 minutes to get there. Of course, I don't mind driving. My fiancé can't stand the drive.

If I had children, I would probably want to be in the Woolmarket area. You may also want to look at Tradition. The houses are really nice but the lots are super small. The good thing is that no matter where you settle on, it's super cheap to buy a house here on the coast.

Just moved to the Pass and working in Biloxi last week from Sugar Land Texas. Commute down 90 every day. Best decision my wife and I have ever made. Absolutely love it here.

Haven't read the thread. Ocean Springs is the only correct answer

This qualifier. While OS is in Jackson County it is its own school district and eats St.Martin's lunch on education so no foul

Interesting, why do say that? Have a child in GCU? FCU?

My boy plays on a U11 SMSC select team. Did BAYS and he played GCU for a season. We travel mostly to Louisiana for tournaments now, and boy am I glad we're on a break.

I work in between offices in Gpt and Biloxi. Have been here for 10 years. Ocean Springs gets my vote. Great schools ( have 4 kids) Everything close by. Just stay on west side of town.

Lots of young families from all over.

We moved to Biloxi from BR a year ago and LOVE it. Our daughter goes to North Bay Elementary which is currently ranked 8th in the state. We have had a a great experience thus far with the school and the Biloxi school district has a good reputation. Most neighborhoods around that school are really nice. I commute to Bay St. Louis for work and never hit any traffic. Ocean Springs is also wonderful but it was too far for our needs.

My office is downtown Gulfport and I really don't find it bad. Gulfport has its fair share of low income families and crime, but it's no different than any other city the same size. I don't think it is fair to say that someone should avoid all of Gulfport. There are some nice areas/neighborhoods. Having said that, Gulfport wasn't high on my list when I was in the market to buy.

You were slow, like most people from St. Martin.
