you could take that really big stump, cut it down, and make 2 legs to go up under the table, on each end of the table... with it's circumference, from the looks of it, it should be sturdy enough to hold up a 6 ft table

I'd use the rafters to make my legs. Make a torsion box out of the cedar planks and just plank the top of the torsion box. Nothing major, let the wood do the talking. Making a nice show puece table is a lot of work, that cedar would be great to make BGE tables and other outdoor projects.

with that much cedar you should consider a closet, especially on a boat, if it's owned by Goldie Hawn.

Anyway to get those planks to mesh tight in a laminate you will likely have to rip the edges of them w/ a pretty fine tooth saw. Maybe it's hard to tell what condition they are in from the pix, if they aren't too bad you might get by w/ a power planer or just a lot of sanding.

Just remember lots of thin layers on the poly coat.

However you could use the pine posts to make a double pedesta that supports the frame for the top. The trick would be to make it so you could take it apart to move.
