Buddy at work said that Tigerdroppings/OT/Poli didn't start threads on Covid till after LSU beat Clemson early to mid Jan. 2020.
I was a lurker back then but told him I thought I learned of Covid in China from the OT closer to when LSU beat Auburn late October 2019.
Do any of you baws recall when the OT or Poli started discussing Covid and that it could hit the states?

Search is your friend.
Eta: total guess but I feel like I started seeing threads in February-ish.

The original thread was called "people are falling out in the streets of Wuhan" or something like that. We didn't know it was COVID at the time.

I'm sure someone started a thread early on.

I did friend. All I got was late Jan/Feb 2020 timeframe which means I am losing my Serop's lunch bet if that holds up. But I'm convinced it was earlier than that, maybe I'm mistaken.

Honkus was stuck in Chyna and couldn't get out. I think that was before the Natl Championship game.

There was a thread about people dying in the streets in China pretty early on. I couldn't find it.
Posted on 11/28/23 at 8:25 pm to Tomatocantender
That was when we were getting Honkusout of Wuhan. There were threads about it on either the OT or poli about what was happening on China.
I first learned about it from Twitter late November of '19.

It was just before the national game it started to percolate and rumble. It went big a couple of weeks after the game at reports of folks dropping dead in streets.

No. No you didn’t. They found cases for it back then, but it was more hindsight than active reporting, and reevaluating earlier cases. Formal reporting of COVID-19 didn’t start till December.
Your friend was more right than you.

There is a thread that was started on 1/25/20 about Honkus heading to Rhode Island.
So him needing to get out and covid was started before that. Could have been before the title game. But def not as early as October of 19.
Here is link to thread

Crazy...this was the initial post:
Only 18 dead at that point.
According to WHO, almost 7MM have died due to "COVID".

Twitter video
To summarize where we are at this point:
-7 Chinese cities, around 23 million people, effectively under quarantine
-Multiple cases across the world - from Scotland to Singapore and USA
-634 Infected (according to Chinese officials), 647 including cases outside China.
-18 Dead (following 1st death outside Wuhan)
-WHO says "not the time to declare a global health emergency"
“Make no mistake: This is an emergency in China.” “But it has not yet become a global health emergency. It may yet become one.”
Only 18 dead at that point.
