I dunno why but I'm getting back into the card collection game like whwb I was a kid. Changed alot what should I be looking for? Just came across panini stuff and seems nice but frick it's expensive. What about some draft class boxes or what? Help a brother out lol. Been buying older cards off eBay but something about pulling from a pack that is exhilarating.

Either plan on doing this stuff just for fun or plan on investing a lot of money. You're not getting "nice" stuff for cheap anymore. It's not a kids game.

I don't do football, but what I decided to do a few years ago was to just pick a list of players that I like for whatever reason (Most on my list are either favorites from when I was a kid or locals).

Don't have a clue about football cards but this part made me hungry for a philly beef panini at Zea's.

I use to be a big football card collector when I was a kid, then I guess my younger teen years I stopped.. But then one day, I think I was in my early 20s, I decided to by a box of football cards (I can't even remember the type), but I do have a Ronnie Lott card that has a piece of game worn jersey in the card.

At one point I had a Michael Irvin rookie card. When I was a kid, one of my friends bought the the set of the first year score came out with football cards and it included Barry Sanders rookie card. That's the same year Troy Aikman, Derrick Thomas... I think Deon Sanders, etc were drafted as well.

It's absolutely absurd now. It's all manufactured rarity. I collected baseball as a kid and tried to get into it as an adult. I've mostly taken to looking at vintage stuff now Pre-1970.

The thrill of cracking a pack is addicting, I'll give you that.

I'm still clinging to hope that my 1991 Donruss complete baseball set will put my kids through college.

Okay, I collected during the junk wax era. I had five monster boxes of cards at one point, but dumped them all when I was in high school, crica 1996/97. I saved maybe a hundred or so. When my son was around ten he started wanting Topps cards (2013). I hadn't followed the game for about seven years, and knew none of the players. I looked at the hobby again and was overwhelmed by the amount of stuff out there. So basically he just collected whatever made him happy. He lost most of his interest after a couple of years.

So, prepare thy anus. This hobby has changed a lot.

Don't grab a Beckett's. They are merely for your own enjoyment, so buy what looks like you would enjoy.

I buy a few packs every now and again, mostly to try and find players who went to my school or play for my teams.

I have some old football and baseball cards that would be valuable but are worthless, from the 60’s and maybe 50’s that were my dads. Unfortunately he has not recently become a dumbass, he’s been that way most of his life, because the cards are GLUED to the pages of an old 1 subject notebook.
