What are you talking about? This is all over CNN and MSNBC.
Just as an update, just turned CNN back on. Literally having a discussion right now (10:22 a.m.) with the Iranian President. NO ONE IN THE U.S. CARES RIGHT NOW ABOUT THE IRANIAN PRESIDENT CNN!
I don't want to say you're full of it. But I'm obviously not watching the same CNN you are.

We have both immediate and extended family trapped in a small mountain town in WNC. We finally heard from them yesterday afternoon when they were able to drive around debris to get a signal. They can’t leave because all roads are washed out or blocked and there’s no gas. But thankfully they are all ok.
Social media has been the only way we’ve been able to get info about their area and also give that info back to them. IMO, if you want actual news, first hand (as much as possible) social media accounts and independent journalists are the way to go. I never turn the “news” on now.
Good to hear and I agree. As much as this board hates reddit honestly reddit and YouTube are the most reliable sources I've had so far. The problem with independent journalists and their online platforms a lot of times is just having to take the time to find them. But I agree and that's why traditional news is dying. They don't cover the events people actually care about. Just politics and their pet causes (gun control, climate change, etc.).

It’s towards the top of CNN’s website right now. And I turned on CNN this morning and they were talking about it.
I imagine as more info/videos come out you’ll see more coverage.
You’re trying real hard to make this political/racial and it’s really gross

I just went to cnn.
Hurricane stories are Below:
Israel War section and
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/29/world/video/beirut-strikes-civilians-karadsheh-cnntm-digvid
And
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/28/australia/australia-endangered-koalas-queensland-intl-hnk-dst/index.html
And
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/28/business/zuckerberg-200-billion-richest-meta/index.html
And
US politics/election section with links that look like they are directly from Democratic Party and Harris campaign.
And
Link on Elon’s gray area early immigration status
But thanks for pushing me to check as CNN is more biased than I ever can remember in the past, and it was biased before.

Our town is ravaged. People are dead, people are hungry, people are drinking unsafe water or have no access to water at all, homes and what little precious things they contained are swept away, mere fragments left.
A vast majority of the destroyed property is of people who, like us, had no flood insurance because we were not in a flood plain.
Mac and I are so unbelievably blessed. Our home is standing. Our basement has a few thousand dollars of damage and our driveway is toast, but compared to the absolute carnage all around us, we feel like the luckiest people on the planet.
I am too tired and torn and raw to say much beyond this:
I thank you all, each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart for your prayers. We have felt inexplicable, irrational peace throughout everything. We have been able to help our neighbors and remain calm for our children. I believe that is due to your petitions to Our Lord.
He chose to be incredibly kind to our family. We are in awe and wonder of His power. Of His might. I am continually meditating on the Psalms and on God’s monologue in Job where He proclaims “where were you???” to Job when He made the very basis of creation and existence.
I don’t understand any of this but I trust that He who is beyond comprehension loves and knows us and has not forgotten us.
Lord Jesus, have mercy on us and bring us to Your feet. Bring us to Your Church to worship You in awe and wonder. Make us holy and cleanse us with the flood of Your love, Your goodness, Your righteousness. Have mercy on us, Almighty and Everlasting God.

Oh you mean this CNN website:

They literally have something on SNL and Maggie Smith! But nothing on WNC.
It is political and it pisses me off when they ignore the mountain communities. If this had happened in an area with a big minority population, CNN would have 5 reporters on the ground already and it would be all they are talking about.
If this had happened in NYC, you wouldn't be having football coverage today as all the major networks, CNN, MSNBC and Fox would be having constant coverage.
But since it's small mountain towns, crickets from the legacy media.

Isn’t Cashier’s the little town with farmers market/ bbq joint with the golden retrievers walking around ?

It’s literally right below that screenshot. Was the second story on mobile sites this morning. There isn’t much new info this morning and when there’s more it’ll probably pop back up towards the top.
I have family in Asheville trying to get to safety as we speak and you’re trying to make this a racial issue. frick you

Just another example and then I'll drop this and focus back on the tragedy itself. Here's another link to CNN currently on my TV. They have a freaking opinion show on!
So do not try to act like CNN is covering this even remotely like they should, because they aren't.

I am hearing that the Army may be deploying the Combat Engineers out of Ft Bragg(Liberty) to help.
Didn’t the military fly in behind Katrina?
I know this is much further inland and wasn’t a focus before storm like New Orleans was before Katrina hit with mandatory evacuation and pleas for residents to leave, but I would thought we would have heard more about mobilizing units and national guard and so on.
Military’s supply chain capability alone would be helpful, and besides aircraft they can bring in more land vehicles that can get to places before other types as water recedes/drains and so on.

Right back at you, frick you for your attitude. I wish nothing but safety for your family and I hope they get to a secure location. And you are far from the only one, while I don't have family in the area I have good friends in Lake Lure, NC that have also had to evacuate. My best friends pastor in Lake Lure, NC had to be rescued.I am so sorry for everyone who has been impacted by this.
You are the one thought making it political. Stop defending the poor coverage by CNN and other legacy media and I'll stop criticizing your comments and showing proof where you are wrong. But again I hope all of your family gets to safety and I wish them nothing but the best.

Not sure of the history of this argument but I live in California. I have tried to find coverage on all major networks and all I can find is footage of the 2 rich assholes running for office or a dead guy from some Muslim country. I really want to know about the east coast but only channel covering is Fox weather and their coverage is shite.

Thank you, this is exactly my frustration as well. Fox Weather coverage is the only one trying to but they are only focusing on Florida and their coverage in general has been terrible. And honestly, outside of the relatively isolated Big Bend area, 90% of Florida is fine.
Heck Gov DeSantis wouldn't be sending helicopters to NC if the situation in FL was really devastatingly bad.
Outside of Fox Weather, literally none of the news outlets (including Fox News) are bothering to cover WNC at all. You wouldn't think a major hurricane had just tore through the southeast US

I’m concerned because no one in NC prepared. Florida takes precautions. Most people in the mountains of NC wouldn’t have I imagine. My RN union is asking us to go help and I want to know if we can actually help or if we would be in the way. Can’t get much info on NC at all.

They came, but it was after 3 or 4 days. There was a lot they could have done if some units could have gotten here sooner.
And I don’t see why the military couldn’t have been landing choppers all over in NC by yesterday morning to help get people out or even just drooling food and water.
