I know they are expensive. I don't know the brand. But I also know they don't work. Or not work as well as I believe they should/could work --- granted, their hearing just may be what it is ... poor, but ...
Keep in mind that you are about to enter into a process.

Hearing Aids are not just a "one and done" purchase like toothpaste or tomatoes. You're going to be making several trips, testing, fitting, fine tuning both the sound and the fit (especially in the canal fit may take several trips to fine tune).

Mom is going through this now. Started in early July. Next appointment is now 1st of December as just about as good as it's gonna get.

Also keep in mind there is different Functional hearing. May remember I was in the thread on Shingles and mentioned it effected her hearing? She has lost the ability to understand the sound she hears in one ear. She hears noise but lost ability to discern noise from speech and distinguish words within the sound. In one ear everyone sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher to her. It also affected how her hearing had been somewhat balanced loudness and now there's a noticeable difference between them. She lost volume and discernment.

She's going Audibel now. In AR she had Unitron. Both do the job but both are not always available in all regions. Her current Audibel office cannot repair my Unitron if I have problem with mine. Nearest for me is 90 miles away now, when the office I got them in AR was literally within walking distance.

Lots of good responses so far. I wore the same Oticons for 10 years which is lengthy. I recently got Phonak Audeo aids. I got a discount through my Blue Cross insurance.

I let the audiologist guide me towards the brand/model that would work best with my hearing loss and cell phone. I have an android phone.

I love these aids but typically turn the bluetooth off because it's very distracting if you get lots of notifications on your phone. I typically only connect bluetooth only to listen to music. I can also use bluetooth to receive phone calls directly to my aids. I found this great for me but whoever I was talking to didn't enjoy all of the sounds they could hear because my aids microphones pick up all of the sounds and not just my voice.

You can also adjust the settings for each aid on the app on your phone. If your user won't use an app or bluetooth there are other choices for them.

My aids are BTE and I prefer them so much to aids I wore years ago which were in the canal. I would get so much feedback when I would have a phone on my ear.

Also, my new aids are rechargeable! This is a newish great feature. No more fumbling to change small batteries once a week.
