That is your A1C which is a 3 month average of what your blood glucose is running.
My last 2 blood tests I was at 6.1 and was only taking 1/2 my dose of metformin.
Metformin will eventually frick up your kidneys so go no carbs a,nd avoid taking that shite. My doctor took me off Metformin as of today because she thinks it's what is causing my kidney function problem.

You didn’t know being fat caused diabetes and the associated disease effects?

Incorrect. It’s prediabetic up to 6.4.

man in 10 years if you have lost a toe and a finger you aren't even trying to live right with diabetes. You should worry more about that and less about bitching about BLM and stop listening to the right wing nut jobs

No it isn't
5.7 - 6.4 is pre
6.5 + is diabetic

You could put your blood on pancakes instead of syrup.

You want it under 6 but you are close and would be considered controlled.
For a diabetic anything under 7 is considered good.
It's not a fat person disease only. I'm 6'2", 205 and I'm insulin dependent. It seems to run in the family.

"prediabetic" is bullshite if your A1C is above 6 you are a diabetic and need to do something about it

I don’t disagree with you that drastic lifestyle changes are in order for someone around 6.

I have had an insulin pump for 7 years now. a1c isnt too bad (7.0) considering I eat what I want.

There is some bad information on this thread. I have been a Type 1 diabetic for 35 years and know quite a lot about good control. First off, there is a huge difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics. Type 2 is typically associated with overweight people. Type 1 is typically associated with juveniles; hence the name “juvenile diabetes.”
I was diagnosed at the age of 11. I weighed 75 lbs at the time. My A1C at the time of hospital admittance was ~13. Let’s say I’ve learned a few things over the years.
My credentials are as follows: I have no diabetes complications at all. My last three A1Cs were 4.8, 4.7, 4.7. The highest A1C I’ve had in 15 years was a 5.3, which happened only once.
Get yourself the book “Diabetes Solution” by Dr. Richard Bernstein. The book changed my life and taught me how to achieve the results I’ve gotten.
The advice you’ve received on here about low carb / high fat diet is spot on. You will not achieve normal blood sugars eating carbs. And one more piece of advice, there is no “good for a diabetic” results. Your results are either good or bad and your standards should be those standards of a normal person without diabetes. You want to live as long as they do, right? Achieve normal blood sugars and you will.

That is not true. I have several family members that are diabetic and none are fat.
