Health insurance is just a tax now. I bought the cheapest option. $70 a month to cover 4 people with a 4k deductible on each person, and put $400 a month in my hsa accoaccount.

I am paying 379.00/month family for BC/BS silver so something seems way out of whack for you. Ours went down 20.00/month actually.

You seriously need to check out the Obamacare policies from healthcare.gov. I'm not trolling - I had to check it out once for my dad and the policies there are actually somewhat reasonable (as in ~$600/month for a family of four for a "gold" policy.
I think it covered about 90% with a $5,000 deductible).
Of course that could be better but when you're paying $31,200 a year, that's a giant monthly raise!

Seems like a lot of people don't get that he's including what his employer contributes

$450 a month $3,000 deductible. Employer contributes $2k to a HSA and I'll contribute $100/month. Family of 3.

$450 a month for my family of three with a $750 deductible. I'm not complaining.

No more platinum....
Straight from the horses mouth so to speak "all the you can keep what you have, pay what you pay, keep your dr, is gone"
A buddy's policy doubled. he pays for his own policy through bcbs, but that's freaking ridiculous. Went to around $1200, about $4000 more a year
It is a massive clusterfrick.:.. For those of you whose premiums barely went up, just wait it's coming and it's coming in dry and that is no shite. If this keeps going like it is everyone will lose medical benefits b/c companies won't be able to sustain paying them.

The wife, $656 a month with a $6400 deductible.
Unable to get any help from the feds.
We fall in the cracks due to me on Medicare and our income.

Yep, thanks for continuing to allow private companies to collude to raise prices. This is your fault for refusing a public option, baw.

If my company is accurate, together we are paying the insurance company 31,200 dollars a year for my policy (1200 a pay period) and that's just the mid-level option. The premium option would have been double/triple that.
I think that's probably $1200 per month which would be $14,400 per year which is about average for a family policy.

I'm in open enrollment now, my family of 4:
2015 cost per pay period: $240
2016 cost per pay period: $413
Absolutely ridiculous.

Mine is $150/month for a great plan with $1500 deductible. It went up about $30 from last year.
Of course, I qualify for the antismoker and under 30 BMI discounts my company provides. They do a blood test for nicotine and a weigh in for BMI. Employees that dont qualify for those discounts, which are pretty substantial, are paying about $500 a month.
Seems like a great idea to me. Punish the smokers and obese imo, b/c they're the drain on our insurance.
