Bring your own bag and put it in there yourself. Or go somewhere else.

We typically buy groceries for the house for 2 weeks at a time. That's not fitting in 3 or 4 bags.

I spent time in Cali in 2013-2014, and having to buy grocery bags was standard then at the couple of groceries I visited (Ralph’s and Trader Joe’s). Pretty sure the state was making the groceries charge.

I'm all for people reusing the boxes they come in unless the store recycles them

This is pretty common in various parts of the country (some allow you to buy plastic bags for $0.10 a piece), and pretty much the only way things are done in Canada.

7-11 in Denver does this.

Guess you’ve also never been to Austin. Better bring your own grocery bags because they’ve been plastic-free, eco friendly for years

Yeah this is pretty standard in commie areas. Also Maine

Not necessarily for the 2 items from the vitamin shop but I don't want to carry a backpack full of bags with me every time we go to the grocery store
You take reuseable bags that fold up and you carry them in, it takes little to no effort. No one carries a backpack full of bags, you leave them in the trunk.

I was at Best Buy and they told me I had to buy a bag if I wanted one. Wild.

Make sure you brow beat the cashier as you do so then post it on Facebook....

First encountered this when we stationed in Germany in 2001. You get used to it and either bring a bag, scavenge a box or make do. Now I kinda find all the bags we get here wasteful and excessive but put try to put them to good use.

Instead of making the customer pay, stores should just switch back to paper

The best grocery bags are the canvas bags from LLBean. I've used them for 10 years and they carry a lot of weight.
