So about 2 weeks ago I realized my amazon account and email had been hacked (use the same email and password). After a few leaps and hurdles I cancelled my credit card and changed the passwords and enabled the dual step sign in where they send me a passcode text to my phone for safer sign in.

ANYWAYS, I have been getting text messages non stop for 3-4 days now from Amazon’s text service notifying me that either my order is being shipped, it is arriving today, or has been delivered. This is around 25 orders so far that ive been texted about. I havent placed an amazon order in 2 months by the way. So I just got off the phone with an amazon customer service member and she told me that Amazon is not responsible for the text messages i have been receiving. She told me to not click on the links or respond. The problem is that this is the same amazon text number that I got from successful orders I did place in the past. Its also the number that the lady texted to me from amazon regarding verification that it was me while on the phone. She basically said sorry and if there anything else she could help me with.

TLDR: I keep getting text messages (over 50 messages now) from Amazon saying that I have orders on the way and the customer service lady said they werent the phones sending it, but its from the same number that they actually texted me for successful orders in the past.

Anybody heard of this or have any advice for me? I can block the number, but then I wouldnt be able to get the serious amazon messages sent to me in the future including being able to sign onto my amazon account since they text me from that number for my one time passwords that successfully get me into amazon.com. The 6digit number is 262-966.

That’s kind of a long post for this message board on the day before New Years, but then again, maybe it’s me.

In that situation I’d cancel the Amazon account and open a new one using a different email.

Doesn’t sound like you use Amazon much, so block the number until you use it, or better block it permanently and don’t rely on texts from Amazon.

Do the 25 orders show up in "Your Orders"

This, and it’s not really that difficult of a concept I would have done this from the beginning.

For the OP though, there are websites where you can choose the number you are sending someone a message from. They’ve been around for years. So if anyone received a text from amazon, you could potentially know that number and text a buddy from it they are receiving a package and screw with them.

Eta: my parents also received 10-15 packages to my dads name they never ordered. Never showed up on their account, but sent to my dads name and address. They called amazon every time for the first 5-6 then just stopped. Amazon had no answers.

This is why I ask the OT. Solid advice. Thanks.
Edit: but then again, I could start a new account and potentially still receive these texts. Idk but its pissing me off and im tired of it.

It was too long of a post, but I like to include all details.

I'm not reading all that shite but if you give me your password, ss# and email address, I'll sort it out.
