I rode in one maybe a year ago in Mexico City. There were hundreds in the air at the same time. What surprises most people is how hot the open flame feels when you're in the basket.

One of their teenage sons was OVERTLY gay, btw. They responded "Oklahoma". I proceeded with the infamous movie quote "Only two things come from Oklahoma, steers and queers. And I don't see any horns" before my brain could stop my mouth.

I don't think I could do it.

It’s impossible to survive that.
Your best chance is to be next to a fattie and hope you land on him, so he can cushion the blow for you.

Yes and I have witnessed a crash like that as well. In early 1990's (possibly 1989) They had the hot air balloon festival in BR at the fair grounds.
I was watching the balloons through my sunroof while sitting in traffic. All of a sudden one of the balloons caught fire and collapsed similar to the video. When it started its descent it looked like it was right above my car. It hit the ground about 200 yards away from me. Unfortunately, the pilot died on impact.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- A 9-foot rip in a hot air balloon caused the craft to plummet 3,000 feet to the ground and kill the pilot, federal investigators have determined.
The crash Saturday evening, witnessed by 9,000 horrified spectators at the opening day of the U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championship, killed Robert Mock, 52, of Paonia, Colo. An autopsy revealed Mock died of massive internal injuries.

The balloon, known as the Chariot of Fire Too, fell approximately 3,000 feet onto a service road near the state fairgrounds, officials said. The gondola came to rest on a grassy strip next to cars filled with spectators waiting to enter the fairgrounds.

No and i have no desire what so ever to do so.
The only chance i would even think about doing it was to wear a parachute while in the basket so if something went wrong, i could jump out and at least control my own outcome

I didn't think I knew any Portuguese but definitely understood the last thing he said.

It would seem like if you were one of the survivors, your immediate concern after reaching the ground would be burning to death.

Yes and the wind changed and we landed sideways in a parking lot in downtown Palm Springs. It was next to a bar and I went in and asked if it was ok to park there.
Bar tender said sure and I said look out the window. The dozen or so customers all went out to see and the "pilot" entertained the crowd with his stories.

Rode in one in Capadoccia turkey. Was an unreal experience. I want to say it fit 12? There were many in the air at one time, you show up very early while the air is thin and they all communicate via radio and know which height to go to etc. Never felt unsafe at all though did understand the risks. I would also mention this was open air. There were no buildings or power lines or towers anywhere around.

bullshite there’s no way anyone survived that drop
The article I read said that the balloon got on fire and the pilot lowered close to the ground and told everyone to jump. 13 people jumped and without the extra weight the balloon gained altitude rapidly and the ones who did not jump were stuck.

Yes, but not for travel. It just went up and back down.
They had one at my dad's company picnic when I was little.
