I don't really go into it but I guess I am now. Life as I had lived it changed in about 36 hours. They were slicing me open within two days of finding out.
It's difficult to describe but I have a hard time remembering who I was before this. That's probably the most difficult thing. It's like I died as that person but have to live as this cancer person at the end.
I know that sounds awful. Because it is awful. It's my truth. I don't know if it's others or will be but I doubt I'm the first to feel that way.
I can't give much advice. Like I said I was never sick. And then I was deadly sick. Like a blink of an eye.

I can get bummed out for an hour or three, then angry (at myself, others, or the situation), and then I do something about it. I don't have depression as an emotion, but if I did, I wouldn't give myself enough time to be depressed without actively attacking the problem

They are content with that shite life though. If somebody who has a higher IQ isn’t content with it, this isn’t going to make them feel any better.

You will find many young folks saying the word depression when they really just mean sad. I am as guilty of this as anyone.

The loved ones you leave behind will be fine. I lost my mom when I was young. I have seven siblings and at first I didn't see how we were going to make it through life without her. But in the end we did fine and are now all old enough to be facing the thoughts of our own mortality. Call it the circle of life or whatever, but you shouldn't worry. I don't know that any of man's religions have it right. But I do believe there is something that continues on through time.

I feel like what has happened to you could happen to me. Not sure why I feel that way. As a result, I am trying to live more in the present as I age.

I'm al most 58 and feel the same way. I had a heart event almost four years ago that changed my outlook on life. I live more in the present as well.
I have so much I still want to accomplish and experience in my life. I can only hope that I get a chance to do half of what I want to do.

Yeah I am just a normal person. No high risk issues or anything like that. So it does happen to anyone just like that.
I can't say what works for others. I know for me, it's been liberating in a way. I'm very lucky. I have people that care about me so much that I never have to worry about shelter or food or bills or any of the normal life issues. So I'm able to just be here without having to take care of everything.
But it's a catch 22. Having a purpose is elusive at this stage in life.
I think that would be one thing I'd say. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter, find your purpose and hang onto it as long as possible. Some will not like or believe this but there will come a time when you don't have one and frick that is hard.

Yep. I was the healthiest person I knew until about 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with a type of Leukemia. It's definitely something that totally changes the way you look at life.

Thank you for this ... working on it. Same goes for love. If you find someone good, hang on to it. You have my prayers and thank you for your honest open sharing. I'm just a random chick who wandered into the OT for a few laughs but this story really touched me. God bless you, Sir.

Yes it doesn't matter what it is. Work, love, family, whatever. I did what I loved for over twenty years and rode it til I couldn't
