I take Vit D3,K2,Magnesium,B12,a Multi Vitamin with minerals.I like vegetables but vegetables from store have little nutritional value. The way they are grown in the same soil year after year, the soil gets depleted of micronurients.
The farmers fertilize with N,K,P,the vegetables look good but the nutritional value just isn’t there.

B12 supplements are important for people over 60 even if they are meat eaters. The stomach produces a substance called intrinsic factor that is necessary for absorption of B12.With age the production of I,F.slows down,is easy to get deficient in B12.
B12 supplements should be dissolvable kind, place under tongue.

I might be wasting my money on the Mulivitamin but whatever.
I just turned 73 and I take no prescription meds so I’ll keep taking them.

Not a vitamin but I take turmeric also, has helped my aching knees and back quite a bit,

I can tell you this. I worked in the nutrition industry for 18 years. I have been taking certain supplements and vitamins daily for decades. I VERY rarely get sick. I can count the times on one hand since college. I’m 54 now. Minimal alcohol consumption has also been a factor. I attribute it a lot of it but not entirely to the consumption of vitamin C. 1000mg per day minimum. 2000 minimum during flu season. 5000 if I feel like something is off.

Ethylated vitamins for me. And I'm looking into the propylated ones, they just have to be 3x better than methylated.

However, when My youngest Son was about two years old he was diagnosed, "anemic". We spent several months giving him the prescribed iron supplements, to try and raise his iron level. No change. Finally I stopped the supplements and fed him chicken livers and Spinach for about six weeks. Liver and Spinach are high iron foods. I took him back for a check up and the Pediatrician said, his iron is up so the supplement must be working. I told her, no I quit giving him the supplement and changed his diet.

Dude thats a badass story. Your son is lucky he had a Dad that could think clearly on his behalf. I hope my kids can say that.

In general, if you eating is somewhat balanced(you arent only kale all day) you will be fine. There are instances where through various circumstances, you can become deficient in specific minerals or vitamins. In that case, if its causing adverse effects, supplementation is helpful

Daily Multivitamin supplements were debunked, not vitamins.

I’m big on a few supplements and I’m convinced they help at least as it pertains to my immune system.

Vitamin C
Vitamin D especially during the winter
Zinc
Black Cumin Seed Oil

I started taking mushrooms about six years ago on a recommendation from a friend. This is the brand, you can get them on Amazon too.

realmushrooms.com

I take two each of the lion’s mane, the 5 defenders (mix of turkey tail, rieshi, chaga, etc) and the D2Z, which is rieshi and chaga plus Zinc and Vit D added.

Gotta admit, I was skeptical at first and they are kinda pricey. But I’ll be damned if I haven’t been sick at all in 5 years. Had a couple of bouts of Covid and the symptoms were very mild.

I'm not a medical professional but consulted with a new doctor after having covid several years ago. He recommended a program of rest, exercise, and healthy eating to boost the immune system along with a program of supplementation. Those of us who are trying to maintain a healthy weight often do not eat a sufficient amount of food to meet the RDA for all nutrients. The same goes for elderly people, women, etc.

1)Methylated vitamins have nothing to do with them being “broken down” or not. It’s a whole different thing. Not sure where you are regurgitating this word salad from.

2)The only vitamins that are sold with a methylated variant are the B vitamins

3) methylated vitamins only have on ounce of value if you carry defective genes to do the methylation yourself.
