I had this exact same thing happen to me in the late 90's. It was the Super Bowl when the Packers beat the Patriots. A friend and I got absolutely loaded watching the game in a bar. I walk out and a fight is going down right in the middle of the street. I run up to watch it close and get there about the same time as the cops. The cops break it up and I get scooped up in the chaos. Luckily, as I was handcuffed waiting on the wagon, i was able to reach in my pocket and throw my friend my keys since I was the one that drove up there. I got bailed out the next day.

yes. Probably 1989-91ish?

Had a major drug problem, did some bad things and owed some bad people some money. So my idea was to just take every penny I had and disappear. Lived in BR at the time, hit the road to Miami. Lived in the car for about a month, going up and down the FL east coast scamming peeps for $ for food and gas. Interestingly after using up all my drugs after the first couple of days I didn't use anymore and didn't really try and find anything.

Hit up homeless shelters for food, ate of garbage cans a couple times, but really just lied and scammed anyone I could for "resources" Red Cross in Key West was very gullible and I took major advantage there.

Family was looking for me entire time, finally after about 2 months I was found in some FL state park loony and unable to remember who I was or how I got there.

A year of in patient drug treatment and halfway houses followed

In college I spent all my paycheck on a bunch of LSD and weed. Since I didn't have the foresight to pay my phone bill, the telephone company kindly disconnected my phone. Over 5 days I sat in my apartment tripping on and selling LSD with various friends and acquaintances.

On a Sunday morning a policeman knocked on my door. Freaking out and still tripping I answered the door. He informed me that my grandmother had called the police station to preform a "well-being check" on me since she had been unable to reach me via phone. I assured the officer that I was alive and would get in touch with my grandmother.

The cop mentioned that my apartment smelled like weed and I tried to explain it away as the inscense I was burning. He said "That's some expensive inscense" and told me to call my grandmother. When I closed the door I turned around to see my bong sitting on the table right behind me and in plain view of the cop. I ate a couple more gel-tabs and went next door to call grandmother.

So, I didn't exactly go missing but I thought I was on another planet for a while and grandmother was worried.

Is it considered being "missing" if nobody is looking for you?

I forgot to add that as the cop was backing out of his parking space he backed into a power pole and a bunch of cops showed up and laughed at him.

Wild times. I will kill my kids if they act like me.

4th grade, my best friend was spending the night and we tried to take a short cut to his house 5 miles away riding our razor scooters so we could play his Nintendo. Couple hours later it was getting dark and we had no idea where we were so we found house that had children's handprints in the cement of the driveway and knocked on the door and used their phone to call my mom. Turns out we were only loke a mile from my house and if we had turned the corner i would've known how to get home
