We use ATT only because they offer a 23% off discount because of the company my husband works for. You should check to see if they offer a discount with your new company.

If you are trying to save money, go cricket or one of those. If not, then choose whichever has best service in your main area.

I have an work iPhone on ATT and a personal iPhone at Verizon.
The only difference is coverage area. As in, at my office, I have much better service with ATT and at home with Verizon. Speed is pretty identical.
I will say for my personal plan, verizon has dumbed down the whole process. One fee for a line, one fee for unlimited data.

It's a Google service, so you have to use a Google phone for it, like a Nexus or Pixel.
You pay $20, then you pay $10 for every GB you use. So if you use a ton of data, then it's probably not for you. If not, it's most likely the best value you'll find on a phone.
And you always pay exactly on the data you use, so if you use 1.7 GB, that's $17 worth of data, plus your normal $20 for a $37+tax bill.

I have an iPhone for work and LG G6 for personal. MUCH prefer the G6 to iPhone. I find Android phones to be much more intuitive and easy to use while performing better as well.
As far as service, I have T-Mobile. Only have issues with service when I am in the middle of nowhere on a road trip, but the GPS still works fine so no biggie. And if you ever travel to Europe, your phone will work just like it does domestically with no additional fees.

Go to Wal Mart (or other retailer) and buy a BLU phone (they range in price from $50-200 depending on how big a screen you want) be careful to buy the Android version, they make a Windows phone too, probably a good phone but Android is the best OS for cell phones.
Next sign up for a prepaid plan with whichever GSM carrier you prefer. I use ATT , they have plans from $40-60 a month per line depending on how much data you want, you can bundle up to 4 lines on one one prepaid plan.
Signing up for a contract phone has became a joke since now you don't even get much of a break on the damn phones , I mean $500 for a Galaxy S6 and I'm stuck with your carrier for the next 2 years? No thanks

Considering T-Mobile just okayed our contract for another 404 days im not sure how reliable that is currently.
I am part of 5 projects currently design / testing / validating new TMO networks.
600 / 700 MHz / SmallCell and two others I cannot mention due to an NDA.
TMO is heavily investing in making rural and suburban connections better than Verizon. Spending quite a lot of money doing so too.
TMO really wants to be a top notch carrier sooner rather than later.
Verizon is really like Intel. No one has really touched them in a long time so they are extremely methodical on anything new entering their network. Hence why the quality is top notch.

Seems similar to what Nokia (me) and Alcatel-Lucent did. Also makes sense because as I have mentioned, they are spending like crazy right now. We have been hiring contractors for short term due to the project load.
