Today, I had a lady tell me not to buy the tulips in my cart because she has a yard full and I can come grab some

I didn't know how to react

When I was in high school people assumed I was working in Ambercrombie and Fitch a few times while I was in there shopping. I believe that's the only place that happened though.

It's never happened to me so I don't really have a say, but why would anyone get upset over that? Seems odd.

Sorry, that would be me asking. I hate to ask and really do appreciate you and everyone else in this thread who helps out. If I can't find someone nice enough to reach the top shelf I have to go find a can of Pringles or a mop to knock down what I want.

While I haven't been asked if I work at the grocery store, I offer assistance anytime I can and people have just asked me if I knew where something was.

I would be an asker of this. I am short, and many times the item I want is too high or too far back on the shelf for me to reach. It is embarrassing for a 61 year old woman to have to ask someone to reach something. makes me feel like a two year old.
Thanks to the tall people who are kind enough to help me out.

Had some Asian lady at Lowes ask me to load several large bags of dirt onto her cart.

It was a little odd but I didn't mind helping.

I've had women ask me for home improvement/gardening advice at Lowes and Home Depot. I figure those ladies are just hitting on me since I'm obviously not working there.

I am 6 feet 4 inches tall so when I go to Wal Mart I get asked a lot by little old ladies saying "can you please get this off the top of the shelf for me?" I don't mind at all even if I'm in a hurry because I know I will be waiting in line soon enough at Wal Mart.

I've never had the "Do you work here?" thing happen. I'm pretty tall, though (6'3") so people ask me to get stuff off of high shelves sometimes. No big deal.

EDIT: Just saw the post above mine. Greetings, fellow tall human.

Sometimes this happens at rouses. Once upon a time I worked there though so I don't mind helping if I can.

That's her pickup line, she wasn't talking about the tulips.

I am an artist on the side and when I am shopping for supplies, I am frequently asked for advice. I've also had people offer information from their experience on different products.

Sometimes I see someone struggling to reach an item and I will quickly grab it for them.

Sometimes I have my work lanyard on when I drop by the store and someone will ask if I work there.
