Have any of you ever found out how much $ a co-worker makes?

Saw an offer letter to a new employee that was scanned to the wrong folder. It can be pretty soul crushing. Ive been working with them a few months and the Employee is totally inept and come to find out they started them out making 20k more than I currently do. I have no idea how they sold them selves as being that valuable to the company. I’ve been their almost 10 years. I wish I had never seen it. I am pretty demoralized at this point. Kinda sucks. I love the company but if one office found out what the other was making all hell would break loose. It’s better not to know.

Agree better not to know. Also this is why people jump around from place to place.

shite on his/her desk. That’s the only way to show you’re worth more.

Talk to your boss about a raise.

I’m not surprised.

Sounds like they are worth more to the company than you, according to the company. Not taking a shot, but maybe you need to market yourself better and ask for a raise once you start producing more. Plenty of coworkers make more than me, but they also bring in more business, that's how it works.

Employers constantly bitch about the lack of employee loyalty, but this is the exact cause of employees jumping ship. The grass is usually greener on the other side because employers in many industries refuse to pay their employees what the market is offering.

I had the same thing happen. I had been at a company for 3 years and just moved to a brand new facility to help train the new hires. Every new hire made 30% more than me.
Brought it to HR and they basically told me tough shite that's the way it works.
Left them for a competitor who didn't hesitate to give me more than I was asking my original employer for. Plus they had an onsite cafeteria so I never looked back.

Yea. Several times. I worked on payroll systems and analysis for management. But I never care what others make.

Twice I felt bad for older people in my same position. And once I was like dayum when I saw a pc /printer tech made 65 plus OT. But never mad about it.

Yes. Companies try to control employees by suggesting that its “unprofessional” to talk about salary. In reality, it’s just a way for them to exercise control and maximize profits while taking advantage of people.

Apparently you think you are more valuable than they do. Plus her tits were probably bigger

Yea, a few of us found that the women in office make more than the males doing the same job!

Yep...pretty much everyone at my workplace knows what everyone else makes...kind of an odd culture, but it really doe keep down favoritism. When you get right down to it, everyone really knows their worth versus other employees.

I accidentally got a file with a bunch of salaries sent to me and everything was exactly what I expected.

People at my office fight over parking spots. It's ridiculous.

Had similar thing happen except with a peer. I went to my manager. After scolding me for comparing salaries the company matched it for me. She was applying for a mortgage and left a copy of her pay stub on a shared drive.

I assume they're also worried about jealousy issues. I don't care what anyone else makes - if I don't like what I'm making I'll seek greener pastures. But some people do worry about comparisons.

I love the "range" speech.

You're at the top of your range for this position....

Well what fricking range are they in.

Left that cluster frick of a job. My current boss is completely transparent about salaries of who is on her team. Everyone knows what everyone makes and she tells everyone why so and so makes more if that situation arises. It's about the rarest "benefit" I've come across.

I work for the government, there are plenty of websites that show what I and all of my coworkers make if I so bother to look them up.
