I agree with the overall sentiment but you lost me when you said that geothermal and hydro are the future. Those energy sources have been tapped for years across the world. There are very limited locations where those energy sources can be tapped and utilized. Solar and wind are diffuse energy sources that also have limited storage capacity and cant possibly meet the demand of a growing world, no matter how much they are scaled up. I agree with nuclear, its a very dense and powerful energy sources we need to put more effort into expanding but its not part of the "greenies" ambitions. O&G will never be eliminated from the energy mix, anyone who thinks otherwise is simply foolish. 20% of the world still uses biomass for their energy source and you want them to start using wind power and driving EVs? Come on, its ok to ambitious but you also have to be realistic

For the most part, yes.

If anything, this has all strengthened the case for renewables and nuclear. Our economy should not rely on the predictability and reliability of despots like MBS or Putin.
We can't eliminate the need for O&G, but we can sure as hell lessen our dependency, perhaps to the point where we can become self-sufficient.

This is how it appears the reaction is going to go.
Eliminate the dependency on Russian O&G.

You progressives sound exactly like Trump.

Europe does and they can’t “quickly” end that parasitic relationship.

If only we’d been energy independent under some president. Oh wait…

Indeed, it was pretty cool when we were a net energy exporter under Obama.

That is the dependence I was referencing. Seems most of what has been said out of Europe is towards speeding up green and alternative energy.
A move back towards coal might be temporary if they want to speed up the reduction of Russian energy.

It's kind of nuts. Like we are supposed to forget the last 5 years of their nonsense.

Clinton was the last Pres to balance a budget. Twice.
Want to praise him?

It all comes down to what the citizens of these nations are willing to accept.
If they wanted to make substantial changes, they should have done that 3-4 years ago.
They are WAY behind the eight ball.

Happened during Trump and Obama's tenure. Yeah I wish we were a bigger exporter. Europe can use some of our oil and coal right now.
