Yes, it is terrible for posts - basically Baby Boomers and Gen X treating it like Facebook with a a continuous drizzle of clickbait headlines.
However, LinkedIn is fantastic for recruiting and getting professional backgrounds. I generally get a recruiter a week that sends me a reasonably decent job opportunity that I otherwise would not have found. I'm rarely looking to change roles but I do appreciate recruiters contacting me (and I reply to all of them as a professional courtesy). It gives me a good understanding of how the market views my resume / skill set. If I get off the wall jobs that are not a good fit for my interests or skills, then it is a strong indicator that I need to change the positioning of my LinkedIn profile. I have a detailed profile and I can actually see a shift in the opportunities based on the key words I decide to include in my Summary.
I do imagine that the value of LinkedIn varies a lot based on your industry. I find the feed useless but the connectivity invaluable.
ETA: I found my current role through a LinkedIn job posting. Otherwise, it is doubtful I ever would have found the posting.
I have considered doing professional posts on content that I think would be valuable, but I haven't had time and worry about adding to the mess that is the news feed.

It’s nice for keeping up with former colleagues.
I usually just go in every few months to update my profile if necessary and congratulate former colleagues when they’re promoted/change roles.
Other than that, I don’t go in. All the Facebook-ish crap with “likes”, “comments” and posting non-work related articles...I can do without that.

I have had a linkedin account for nearly 10 years and can honestly say that it has not been of benefit to me one single time.

The worst now are the bullshite stories these highly followed wankers post. I don’t believe any of them.
Like the guy who claimed there was a manager who belittled him as a dishwasher and then interviewed for a job under him 20 years later when he owned a franchise. horseshite stories like those that which are meant to be inspirational yet are cowpoop.
