was Bourbon a good place to hang out?
none of my family ever hung out on bourbon - that’s what the neighborhood bars were for, or the bar at Schweggmann’s

Like others said, the Quarter used to be a safe haven. Don’t mess with the Golden Goose of tourism and conventions. Now not sure if leadership understands that.

New Orleans' heyday was LONG before the '70's and '80's and, yes, it's always been trashy.

Hasn’t really changed much outside of the 1st two blocks near canal. And it has always favored a black crowd but it used to not be as unruly 25yrs ago.

Yes! Whatever favorable perception I may have had of Bourbon Street evaporated during that visit when I saw that skinny g-string-clad methhead beckoning men from the door of that dingy bar. Yikes!

It went downhill from there. When I got off the elevator on the floor to my hotel room, what did I find? Some glassy-eyed druggy sitting on a chair, staring at the door to my elevator.

It was then I prayed I'd get out of that feces encrusted town alive or at least without some hyperinfectious whatever. I never went back.

It's fascinating with all of its Acadian heritage, eh.

Like EVERYTHING the Quarter was very nice. Safe, drive down to Morning Call in pajamas and drink coffee and beignets in the car.

Most Business were owned by family from Generation s, every one knew each other. I was in the Quarter several times a week, very safe.

Sad what hey have done o my City, buy do not live in the City Ny longer.

Certain people ruined this Great City…..facts are facts

Much classier now thanks to the introduction of Rick's Cabaret, Hustler Club, and Penthouse Club. In times past, a gentleman was forced to patronize Big Daddy's and other savory bottomless/topless bars to meet a nice girl.
