I've used trifexis for my dogs whole life. Combined heartworm and flea protection and works very well. He doesn't willingly eat the pill though so I have to coat it in peanut butter or wrap it in a piece of turkey and hold his mouth shut to get him to swallow it. Lol. He will lick the peanut butter off the pill and spit it out if he had a choice.

When we first moved into our house a couple of years ago my dog developed a pretty bad flea problem. Trifexis was the only thing that cleared it up.

I have not found a pill that claims to protect against Ticks which are a much bigger threat than fleas. Until then I will keep giving a topical like frontline. I will also spray ultraguard on him in the bad months and when I know we will be in the woods.

I'll be honest, those flea pills are a miracle. We fought the battle against fleas for years. Treating the yard, "dipping" the dogs/cats, flea "bombing" the house, over and over again for most of my life.

When we started using the flea drops (I can't remember the name) on the nape of their coat about 20 years ago, it got much better, but when we started with the flea pills about 10 years ago, it has been amazing. We rarely ever see any fleas in the yard, house, or on the pets. If we do, it's because we were a little late on their monthly treatment and we typically had just returned from a walk.

The flea pills have been nothing short of a game changer. Miraculous.

"Flea pills" work "really well" if you know what "I mean"

Well get on it. It really does work great. No fleas on my dogs. After you give it to your dog for the first time, you can literally watch the fleas fall off dead

They're pretty large pills so if u choose this form, try and break it up and hide it in a hotdog

First time you give comfortis, the fleas will drop off in about the first thirty minutes.

What are all of you using these pills doing for Ticks?

Curious - seems you all are leaving your dog open to ticks unless you are adding something else on top of the pill

My three dogs took Comfortis for years and it works. Two months ago we started them on Trifexis. One of the dogs had a problem with it, so she gets Comfortis and the other two get Trifexis.

I got one dog with topical and one dog with the pills. Both work well. Pills are Sentinal and topical treatment is Advantage.

You need to treat the yard, house, and dog to get rid of fleas.

I live in the city, so ticks are not as big of a problem for me as country folks. I generally bath my dogs every 1-2 weeks, so I typically just observe for ticks. I have only found 1 or 2 ticks in the past 10 years. I seem to recall my vet telling me that the trifexis/comfortis do actually deter ticks but are not fully effective.

Yep.

Works VERY well. Our guy had fleas with frontline and another type of flea topical gel.

We haven't seen any fleas in 2 years since starting Trifexis.

Trifexis is the only thing I've ever used that actually keeps fleas off our dogs. Tried dips, treating the yard, flea collars, you name it. Switched to Trifexis a few years back and haven't looked back. Trifexis works.

I've never heard of Bravecto. Looks interesting. A quick internet search shows that the product is relatively new, so I hope no negative side effects will surface. It looks promising, though. Thanks for the info.

Pills have been much better for us. Best thing to me is that I don't have that nasty arse oily residue left behind.
