Nootropics — also called smart drugs or cognitive enhancers — are drugs, supplements, or other substances that improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals

Which nootropic have you taken and did you experience memory improvement?

I’m often asked which “smart drugs” I use to improve mental performance and productivity. I’ve tried everything imaginable, whether over-the-counter, prescription, or otherwise. For 90% of the options, the short-term benefits are not worth the long-term side-effects. This video describes a few options that I’ve found to be sustainable and reliably effective. Note that I will still “cycle” off of these at least one week out of every eight weeks.

do you have any experience with this?

I recently read a fascinating article about nootropic abuse in corporate America, especially finance. Upper management and even executives are abusing nootropics to gain an edge on their competition.

The article also stated that nearly 1 in 4 college students now abuse nootropics due to added pressure to perform better.

It got me to thinking: Do nootropics actually boost brain activity and memory? If so, are they actually drugs that make you smarter or at least help you hyper focus?

Nothing more than tea and coffee for me, but I am very curious to explore some of them as I learn more.

My overall lifestyle choices as a whole are enough to keep me running optimally

Something funny about Alpha Brains website...they use Joe Rogan to help sell their supplement. Read his quote near the bottom of the homepage:

quote:

It seems to fire up your brain at a higher RPM level...I feel like it helps me form sentences better.

I sort of laughed at his quote because it's a poorly constructed sentence, yet he's claiming it helps him "form sentences better."

I hate to think how he formed sentences before he took Alpha Brain.

[I like Joe Rogan and his podcast, fwiw]

Yup, I'm currently taking. Have not taken them long enough to notice any memory enhancement.

Caffeine and Theanine
Adrafinil (tGOAT)
Phenibut HCL

Okay, you take it.

Can you provide an honest opinion about your experience on Alpha Brain?

i actually don't use that much from Onnit b/c it's so expensive

i just started taking 5-HTP again and i go with this

i don't know if there is an equivalent alpha brain substitute. one reason i don't take it as advised is b/c it's so expensive. i should just bite the bullet and do a week full bore and see what's up

Katy

i'm thinking of putting in an order today and trying it out. allegedly there are different levels of response, so like 1 pill can just help if you're in a bad mood, 2 can make a fun night, and 4 makes it feel like you're rolling (per a review i read, which is how i found it in the first place)
