The only thing I’ve seen recently like this is after the Supreme Court decided McGirt v. Oklahoma (which, slight oversimplification, holds that state governments cannot prosecute Indians for crimes committed on reservations that haven’t been disestablished, leaving prosecution to the federal or tribal governments depending on the type of crime).
Shortly after the Civil War, the Cherokee Nation granted honorary tribal status to some black freemen. I’ve encountered a couple of black defendants who have asked for dismissal of state law charges under McGirt claiming that they’re descended from “black Cherokee freemen.” (For clarity, no, this doesn’t work, because the status of being Indian requires both a minimum blood quantum and membership in a tribe. They never have the blood quantum and usually don’t have current membership anyway.)

It's a thing. A guy I know wrote a book about it wrapped with Black Masonic themes/symbolism.

There are a ton of people that descend from American Indians that aren’t and will never have a chance to be registered under a tribe. And no I’m not talking about Latin Americans. Whites, blacks.
You have to have been living on a reservation in the late 19th century to qualify. Which means a frick ton of people who descend from an Indian that married a white person or assimilated into white society, before then, wouldn’t qualify.
But this has nothing to do with the topic at hand at all.
There is a small segment of black people that claim the American Indians that lived here when Colombus and then the British settlers showed up were actually black, and they are the descendants of them. They aren’t descendants of slaves, or maybe the whites made their “indian ancestors” slaves? I’m not sure. But that’s what the OP is referencing.
Obviously it’s ridiculous, but apparently black Americans are slightly more likely to have a small part Indian % in their ancestry than white Americans (I think I know why but it’s still interesting)

They believe that the real native Americans / Indians came after them and took their land or something? I dunno
Posted on 11/13/25 at 3:10 pm to Hawgnsincebirth55
Kamala showed them the way

Well, there was the Blackfoot tribe. Do they count or only 10% since it was only a foot?

They need to be able to prove it and trace their ancestors to the Dawes Rolls.

They are equally as popular on the poliboard right now.
Oh, you meant natives.

Yeah I think it is. They are the real Jews who left Israel and had to go wandering and ended up in America or something like that.
It is definitely nuts. Not even the people in Jamaica or the Bahamas believe this sort of nonsense, and it would make a lot more sense for them honestly, seeing as there aren’t even any natives left there (and I don’t think there have been for a while)

Yeah so if your ancestors assimilated into American / white society before the Dawes Roll you are screwed

Pretty much. Native blood has been purposefully diluted over the years. Used to 1/4 native was the minimum blood quantum needed to claim it. Now they are starting to go to 1/8th.
Most people trying to claim it are really 1/32th-1/64th, maybe.

They will stop at nothing.
Ive never seen a group want to claim to be another group more than the blacks. I think every other race is content but they certainly are not. They have tried to claim or interject themselves into every culture on earth LOL.
I saw a black dude the other day saying there were black people in Greenland, yes Greenland.
Its absolutely ludicrous. They can barely keep themselves alive in the warm weather in Africa much less try to deal with negative degree climate where it takes actual work to survive during winter.
