I dumped Facebook
Couple things it's too much info. Also I don't want the shallow friendship it props up

No. I'm not dumb enough to alienate friends or family over something as dumb as politics.
What about the people that alienate you, your friends and family over politics? You put up with that shite?

At times, I think that we would be better off not knowing what others believe when it comes to politics. There are married couples who have diametrically opposite views. How can people live together if they feel strongly about what they believe? It is something that I would struggle with.

What are you? A fricking elephant? I forgot about that, but you damn right I did. My dogs were going to run out if I didn't and they were dirty looking. Their parents might have been putting them up to it... to go around and see what people have in their house to steal.

I have definitely stopped talking to friends who I felt were too extreme or too ignorant. If one of my friends has different ideas than me, and can argue intelligently and peacefully, I'm fine with that.

They are sorta like friends, except no one wants to be around them because all they do is think they are funny when they correct your english

I like that Facebook allows me to express my intolerance of differing views from the comfort of my couch while eating cheetos

I mostly use it as an address book. Plus my local friends use FB to send out event invitations and I don't want to miss those.

Well I have definitely distanced myself from some acquaintances since the election as some have probably done so to me. Not that I'm very vocal or outspoken when it comes to politics but I just believe there needs to be a cooling off period

Don't have Facebook and I hang out with cool people that don't talk about lying pieces of shite. If you lose friends over politics then you and your friends are probably boring nerds to be around. Up your cool game bro!

My sister is a very liberal person, we have had exactly one political conversation, about 10 years ago.
We realized pretty quickly that we were on different wavelengths altogether, and decided right there that it would be better not to ever discuss it again

Same here with quite a few of my friends but with this election they can't help themselves and I end up getting sucked in.

Serious post:
Not to get too off topic but I actually did lose a friend (as in he died) with whom I shared no political beliefs. We would get drunk and argue for hours but it was always civil. He gave me a lot of perspective and I like to think I did the same for him. I think that's a good thing we should all have and practice.
Just my two cents, sorry I'm drunk and miss my friend....

No. I will ignore you or tell you why I disagree, but the ones who get all pissy on fb and spew passive aggressive BS like "I'm going to be trimming my friend list tomorrow" on the day before a big political event or those that spew some political opinion and then say "if you disagree, don't post, will unfriend, etc." can get fricked in their snowflake asses by other snowflakes.
