This is a useful platform for communication among concerned citizens that might otherwise not be in contact with one another. A strong Nextdoor Group, working with the backing of the local sheriff/and or State Police, can meet out justice in a way local law enforcement just isn't capable of doing.

Anyone have any success stories, suggestions, or advice for a group just getting started?

I'm working with one group now that's trying to have a young man arrested for following high school girls home as they ride the bus, then exposing himself in broad daylight.

The people on that app are all insane where I live. Lots of old people complaining about super petty things or lost dogs

I've already been in contact with Ryno about this case.

He had a similar incident with the late Warren Moon's son in his neighborhood.

We've consulted with his Sargent at Arms, and the HOA.

People just post about lost pets and garage sales on the one I'm on. They aren't exactly bringing anyone down.

I started one for our neighborhood less than 2 years ago and we are not up to 485 users. It is really good for keeping up with security issues going around, selling things, or getting recommendations.

I think it is a great tool

Yep

Right now, we have a case that's going to be tricky.

Kid is the son of an FBI agent. Whacking it to girls he goes to school with. Girls won't say they saw anything.

It's an indictment of the father more than anything the kid has done, IMO

And you're already trying to organize some kind of sting operation?

I trolled my neighborhood group about seeing a Bama fan beating his wife in his front yard. I had a fake name terry but had forgot I gave them a real address so I had to shut it down. I was in the process of making a post about if it was legal to open carry during Halloween when a friend pointed it out to me

No. This is an ongoing operation that is spread across multiple groups and watch groups.

Intel moves quick. I've been getting text alerts and will be headed out around 9 to do some more recon.

Vehicle driving a little slow in the neighborhood. URGENT! Slow moving vehicle scoping out houses. Couldn't get license plate. The Sheriff has been called.

Vehicle driving a little fast in the neighborhood. URGENT! Black car going too fast! Starting a petition for speed bumps. Dead children are lining the streets. The Sheriff has been called.

These a'holes were recently stealing packages from doorsteps. One of the resident OT-esque Nextdoor detectives took some screenshots from one of the thefts to a few taco stands and neighborhood stores and posted the results on Nextdoor. Sure enough, those f'ers were monitoring the app and shut down their FB's with the quickness.....

But not before the cops got to them 3 were arrested and how were the other two caught you might ask? Via his friend link on FB haha. This happened last week or so.

All I get on Nextdoor is people offering their sub par amateur services for an absurd fee
