That must be the going rate for rental assistance.....my parents got that exact same amount.
They still have not heard from FEMA about an inspector coming out yet.

I believe personal property means contents - furniture, clothes, electronics, etc. The drywall, floors and things like that will fall as part of the payment for real property, i.e. the house.

Has anyone here applied for the SBA loan? I'm wondering if it has any effect on if you get the grant money.

I don't know if it does. We are waiting to see what my parents get from FEMA.
Should I have them apply now? Whenever I can get my parents here to AZ they are going to have to finance a trailer.....told my dad his best bet is that SBA loan since it will be a much lower interest rate.

FEMA did my inspection today. A nice older lady came out, asked a few questions and for a few documents to prove I owed the place. She spent about an hour walking around taking measurements and asked me about appliances and other items we lost. When she left she said I should hear back from them in 7-10 days.

Just FYI - my parents met with a FEMA representative today and they were told that you are not allowed to place FEMA trailer on property that was flooded. I'm not sure if this is how it was during Katrina, but it was certainly new information for my parents... my parents were planning on parking the trailer in their front yard while the house is being repaired.

It has wheels right?
Still nothing from FEMA. Got a call from the SBA folk and a letter from SBA. Fairly certain I'm not OT Baller enough that I make too much money for the grant. Got a prego wife so hoping this shite doesn't drag out past the little muice's arrival.

How did they get her banking information? There were 2 men claiming to be from FEMA walking around one of the neighbors by us and turned out....they were scammers. I pray that she didn't give them this info it's a scam.

You can enter routing and account info when you apply

When you say "personal property" are you referring to dry wall, floors, etc.?
No. Parents had dwelling coverage but didn't realize they did not have "contents". Their house is covered but none of the furniture and shite.
FEMA assistance has 2 different avenues... housing and ONA (other needs assistance). ONA is for things like medical, funeral expenses, and personal property (including furnishings). That's what I'm hoping they can get assistance with.

What zip code do you live in? My parents live in 70818 and we have yet to hear of anyone in that zip getting an inspection. I registered my parents as soon as we could and I have yet to hear anything.

My parents in 70816. Supposedly they will hear from an inspector in the next few days about an inspection.
And I don't know how this happened cause I asked my dad over the phone 5 times to repeat his info...but somehow he gave me the wrong checking acct information....and FEMA had already deposited the money he was approved for rental assistance yesterday...in the wrong acct. So hopefully clearing that up isn't gonna take forever.

Yikes. One thing I have to say for FEMA is it's pretty easy to get someone on the phone.

842 a month?
I don't think it's an automatic monthly thing. And I do believe that amount is PART of the 33k people could possibly get from FEMA and not in addition to it.

I'm not sure, but in Watson, $842 wouldn't even rent a one bedroom apartment in shitty Live Oak Trace.

Remember, FEMA isn't there to make you whole. It's there to help.

My poor dad right now is just an emotional wreck. I basically have to tell him everything to do right now cause he's just so far gone emotionally. He calls me to say "I got someone on the phone right away and they verified it is the right acct"
Had to then tell him that is only because I just went online and changed everything a few minutes before that for him....so the rep was just reading off the changes I made. Of course that stressed him out and I had to spend a few minutes calming him down before telling him to call them back right away and tell them the money was deposited to the wrong acct.
