I just saw an ad you can donate plasma and get $800. Just curious if anyone here has done it. Any pros and cons?

It’s $45 bucks in the Westbank. But I might be getting taken advantage of.
Hell, they might not even be taking my plasma. Might be cloning myself.

Donate no .. sold you bet
Twice a week for three years while in college.. the plasma center was on chimes street…
You got 12 dollars first time and 20 or 25 second time of same week..and a bonus 20 bucks every fifth time .something in that ballpark.. . I think that was it.. you could step in between classes and read textbooks while sitting there for the hour..
I had a welt for years and years but now it is just a little track in my left arm where they always stuck me..
You walked out of the plasma center and could stop at the bayou and drop a few dollars on nickel (?) beers or quarter bourbons ..

Be sure to read the fine print. I don't think anyone gets what the billboards advertise.

If you are receiving payment, you are not donating anything, you are SELLING it.
I have never donated (or sold) plasma but do donate platelets. Donated this afternoon, as a matter of fact, at Ochsner and do it on a regular basis.
They had Hubig's Pies and little king cakes along with the usual snacks, too!

Da fuk? I donated some in college (90s) with some friends to fund a keg of beer and it was like 20 bucks maybe? It kinda sucked TBH but the keg lasted longer

I don’t think I’ve ever been that hard up for $800 bucks

I intended to donate one time in college. We actually went there and stood in line, but it didn’t take long to realize that this was not a place where we belonged. Man, we were standing in line with the lowest society has to offer.
We were lured by the money, but it wasn’t nearly $800 dollars. That’s probably if you go twice a week for a month, or something like that.

All through college. Would just read a book or watch tv. (This was before smart phones)
Easy money
They would also enter you into raffles for TVs and gift cards. More money. Etc.
Con- it can be cold. Sometimes a line to donate. Donating can take up to 2 hours
Pro-sometimes get an attractive young nursing. Easy money.

In the early 90s it was $10 for your first and $15 for your second each week. There was no bonus. Me and my brother did it for years, it was basically my pocket and beer money.

Read the fine print. It is a hassle. You have to schedule an appointment. And wait a long time. Read the reviews. They do not give you cash. Did it in the 80’s. Alot of smelly hobos SELLING their plasma. It is kind of like the pawn shop of bodily fluids.

Did it when I was in college
